What a wonderful experience in my stay at Krokawa-So! I particularly enjoy the public onzen which has a beautiful scenic view, and the two private onzens in my room ( both an in-door and an out-door). The dinner and breakfast were also very good in terms of quality and local varieties! I shall return again!

The room is nestled by the mountains and water, offering direct access to the outdoor wilderness right outside the door – a truly exceptional experience. If you're lucky, you might even get to enjoy an outdoor hot spring bath during a heavy snowfall.

This is a large ryokan located around Kurokawa Onsen, with a main building and an annex. This time, we booked a room in the annex, which was very spacious and even had a loft. There were two private onsen baths right in the room, and another one just outside the room. The experience was absolutely incredible.

The hotel environment is excellent, and the hot spring facilities are top-notch. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food served is delicious, with both breakfast and dinner being high quality. It's definitely worth another visit.

This is a perfect place for a complete break in a secluded location. Although communication in languages other than Japanese was a bit challenging, the staff's proactive and welcoming attitude helped resolve everything.

Location is a bit far off from Karukawa Onsen area (5 minute by car but 30 minutes by foot). The rooms/baths don't feel or look very clean. The food is so-so.

We were looking for a more traditional ryokan away from it all. This place hit the spot. We really enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion. The trip to it - rental car - was a worthwhile trek! I went to check out the in-room hot spring because it looked spacious. The water was a little lukewarm, so it might not be suitable for those who prefer very hot water. Staying at Sanga Ryokan was like stepping into a postcard-perfect corner of rural Kumamoto — far from the bustle of big cities, nestled deep in lush forest along a gently flowing mountain stream. The best onsen ryokan I've stayed at so far.

The service was excellent, and the rooms are spacious. Each room features its own private 'Qieshi' hot spring bath. They provide a shuttle service to and from the Kyushu Odan Bus Station. Upon check-in, you can book a time slot for the private onsen. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with dinner even being served directly in our room, which added a very special touch.

A round trip from Tenjin by bus costs 8000 yen and takes three hours! Remember to book your tickets in advance as there aren't many services. The place is vey old and vintage. The baths look awful because of iron in the water and thet require renovation. Unfortunately we didn’t like our dinner as it was too specific. It is not the first kaiseki dinner for us but it was not the tastiest one.

The hotel is located in the heart of the hot springs district. There's no parking available, so you have to park in a public parking lot and walk downhill, which can be tiring if you have a lot of luggage. The restaurant is nice and the staff are friendly. I stayed on Dec 17, 2020. The atmosphere of the hotel is nostalgic, the food is delicious, the hot springs are the best, the staff is kind and I was able to spend my time in comfort. As with all Kurokawa onsen, I find it better to hang out with a lot of people than a waiwai.

This was my second visit but this time the stay was very comfortable. The indoor bath is hot and hot up to about 42°C. The price/performance ratio is average. Maybe there are fewer people staying in the summer. The food needs to be improved.
