Lake Saroma Tsuruga Resort in Kitami

Excellent service, excellent Japanese and French dinner, excellent views from the room with a lot of birds, excellent onsen, and great price if you book early。。。

As lovers of nature, this hotel was the best hotel in Japan that my wife and I have ever stayed. We arrived in a May afternoon of 2015 and our experience was still the best we have ever had as regular visitors to Japan. The impressive photos I captured there featured in my websites and there could not be any near substitute!

Located on the shores of Lake Saroma, facing west, this hotel offers excellent sunset views. The onsen (hot spring) is quite nice, with facilities on both floors, and the dinner buffet is well worth the price.

The hotel has been open for a while, and there's a persistent issue with the ventilation units or air conditioning units experiencing low-frequency resonance. Luckily, I brought earplugs and wasn't bothered while sleeping; all three rooms we booked had this problem.

The second-floor Japanese-style villas have traditional decor, outdated facilities, and small bathrooms, but the bedrooms are spacious and include a small terrace.

I would recommend the lake-view rooms on the fourth floor. They're newly renovated, the showers are very comfortable (no need to step into the bathtub!), and the bedrooms are large enough to suit modern lifestyles.

The hotel is located by the lake, and the sunset views from the rooms are a major selling point. The beach is right outside the room, creating a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast includes freshly squeezed juice, and the restaurant is beautiful. Freshly toasted eggs are also available.

Very peaceful and has beautiful scenery. Love the birds around the sea.

Everything about the hotel was extremely good and overall the service was good, except the last day at breakfast the staff were not as helpful. Our room was spacious with great views and it was a good hotel as a base for touring, my only issue was the breakfast finished at 8:30 - that is too early when on holiday!!

I visited in early June and stayed for 2 nights. It turned from sunny to cloudy that day. Unfortunately, I didn't see the sunset. The lake view was beautiful. It was very hot in the room that day. I turned on the air conditioner but there was no wind at all, so I opened the window and just turned on the air conditioner. The wind was not blowing in from the direction of the window and we were sweating all the time. We had to call the front desk to ask if we could change rooms, but the answer was no, even though we had just arrived in the room. The front desk said they could provide electric fans, so we used them for 2 days, but it was really hot and it was very difficult to sleep at night because the quilt and bed were thick. I kept sweating while lying on them, and my face and body were sticky and itchy. Yes, people coming in summer should pay attention to air conditioning issues. It would be better to go there in autumn or winter.

The location of the hotel is very remote and we arrived around 7:00. There was no food around. The service attitude is generally good and the breakfast food quality is good. The environment is good and there is 🦐 sashimi. The hot spring ♨️ is not as good as expected.
