Kel-Suu At-Bashy in Naryn

The yurts were by far the nicest we saw — beautifully decorated and very cozy. They even lit the fireplace for us, so we slept perfectly. Dinner and breakfast could be improved, and the place is still under construction, but once it’s finished, I’m sure it will be the most comfortable and fully equipped spot in Kel Suu.

The family that operate this Yurt camp are really genuinely kind. The camp is well managed with a cosy cafeteria Yurt and coal heated stoves in each accommodation yurt. There is WiFi too, a shower and a hand-washing station with soap and water dispensers that they heat in the morning. The breakfast contained watermelon, apples, tea, coffee, sausage, porridge and eggs. It is also located closer to the Kel-Suu trail than most other Yurt camps. Would thoroughly recommend.

The yurts are new and beds are comfortable, good heating, wooden floors. We picked it because there were only five yurts there and we thought it would be more tranquil. However, when we were there, there were several SUVs driven by locals who parked their huge SUVs beside our yurts, turning on their engines till late at night… having parties into the evening…it wasn’t so tranquil anymore. Food is very basic, as are toilet facilities. No shower facilities or Wi-Fi. Their neighbor Golden Moon has showers, Wi-Fi and proper toilets, even a sauna. However, Kel Suu at Bashy is a new facility… in the coming weeks, they will have a restaurant, complete with modern sit down toilets. With better management of outside guests sharing the limited space and facilities and their booking system, the property has the potential to be a better one. We pre- booked the room on Agoda, prepaid for it as well… but we were told that they were fully booked on arrival. Quite stressful after a long journey. The situation was resolved after we showed them our confirmed booking. All was made good when they gave us a different room from the one we booked. However, they have no facilities to house drivers ( if you hired one)… we had to put the driver in our room ( that was not a very comfortable situation) as we are females. The lady host was subsequently very apologetic n hospitable. This property is far from Kel Su… it adds a couple more km hiking distance to the lake. There are many yurt camps in this area… we wouldn’t pre- book if we ever visit again. And, do plan your visit on weekdays if you prefer a quieter experience.

not only they provided an excellent experience, they also went far and beyond to help us out with a problem we were facing, plus the human warmth they treated us with
