Guest House «Island Host»

Velidhoo is an excellent place to discover the local culture. Island Host was one of few places to stay at the island and probably the best one. Room was crystal clean, cervice was amazing. They have many great tours. We had an amazing experience 😊

We spent 10 days in Velidhoo, a beautiful island where you can experience the real Maldivian lifestyle,traditions and culture. We were delighted by the professional and kind service that Adam and his staff provided us in Island Host! The guesthouse and its restaurant are very close to each other and have both a wonderful ocean view! Food and drinks are really good and they can also being delivered into your room! Highly recommended the excursion to Raafushi island and the Picnic in Thanburudhoo island! Thank you so much for the memorable moments!

Relax and snorkelling are the two key words of this amazing holiday. The GuestHouse is comfy and has all the amenities you needs also thanks to Amed who loves to keep it clean and make guests feeling at home. Snorkelling in around this island is simply amazing. You can see many different type of fishes.. the one I liked the most was a stingray. The food was also amazing. I definitely recommend this GuestHouse to who ever wants to enjoy the Maldives and not being in a 5 stars resort. If you are looking to experience Maldives in all his beauty look no further since you will also be living like a Maldivian. We experienced a day trip to a desert island Raafushi and the water looks like a pool. Beautiful. A special thank you to Adam who has been looking after us the all time.

After a year we have returned to this wonderful place, this time with three children. As I wrote before, the guest house is located near the harbour. The environment of the guesthouse had improved since our first visit, the park and the nearby seaside had been reconstructed now its more beautiful than before. There is a new sports center has balso been bult, wher you can rent jetsky or a SUP, and you can also go to snorkel and dive if you wold like to. The restaurant s runned by the same owner so the breakfast (and for us the dinner) is also served there, but they can send the drinks and food to the room. The breakfast is plentiful, you can choose from a large selection, you can even taste the local flavors, but you can also have a traditional continental breakfast. They thought of the little ones as well, my daughter asked for pancakes almost every day. The guesthouse has three separate rooms with a common lobby and well equipped kitchen. The air conditioned rooms are really comfortable. They place great emphasis on cleanliness. There are free bikes and snorkeling equipment you can use for free. Our host, Adam again did everything for us to have a great time and family vacation. We have been several times snorkeling, went together to a sunset fishing cruise, and spent a fantastic night in an unhabited island at Than'burudhoo. On our final day we celebrated the 16th birthday of our daughter, who got a beautiful birthday cake. Thank you for everything, If you can make it, I hope we will be back again!

We had enjoyed our stay to a point you can never imagine. Everything is perfect , the island , the beach , our island host who was flexible and very helpful ... literally island host means island host.. we will be back for sure

The island host is a wonderful place to stay if you want to experience what life in the Maldives is like. The guesthouse is run by Adam and Ahmed who also own the local bar and restaurant next door. The food there is spectacular, the cooks are from India and we simply could not try everything although we would have loved to. Adam picked up ideas in his travels round the world, so the menu also includes caramel frappacinos and banana splits. Also definitely try the wide range of mocktails! Adam is very focuses on making your stay the best possible and even when things go wrong did a stellar job at making things work including managing to organise a PCR test in the very last minute due to very short term changes of plan, making sure everything ran smoothly. He does ask at the beginning of each stay and after booking whether any are needed and at the time I'd hadn't been necessary. Thank you you for that!! There are lots of activities to do. We started the first day with a bike tour of the island with Adam explaining about how the island life works and telling us about local culture and traditions. We also went snorkeling with him in one of the three (!!) house reefs. Snorkeling equipment and bicycles were included in the room price. He offers many more activities from fishing together and grilling the fish in the courtyard on a coconut shell fire, to a night away on another island with picknick meals. We also enjoyed an evening with Adam and his wife where they taught us how to cook Maldivian food in the kitchen of the guesthouse. If you want to go diving make sure to let then know in advance. The guesthouse itself is cosy with a communal kitchen and lounge area (with a TV with Netflix access) and 3 separate rooms for up to 7 people. I would definitely go back here for a holiday, but can definitely recommend it also if you can do remote work for longer stretches of time ;)

We stayed At Island Host Guest house in Dec 2021 for 10 days. Adam, Ahmad and the rest of his team really made us feel welcome and comfortable from the very start . They even organised our ferry from Male. The snorkelling on the island was incredible, so much to see. Adam also organised snorkelling and picnic on nearby Virgin Islands which we definitely recommend. Our 13 and 11 year old kids loved the snorkelling, the fishing trips and bbqing our own catch, also hanging out with the local kids on the islands and meeting so many friendly locals. The breakfast options are soo delicious and the variety of food in the restaurant has something for everyone’s taste.. Really good Indian and international food. Staying at a local island was really special and gave us an truly authentic Maldivian experience while still getting a high level of service from Adam and his team. Thank you from the McDonoughs, we hope to come back one day.

Perfect place to relax and do fun activities. Adam was very patient to suggest fun things to do and even accompany us for best snorkelling spots and see luminescent plankton. We felt treated like family.

The name „islandhost“ couldn’t have been chosen better: Adam and Ahmed and the whole crew take care of you and any questions, needs and whatever you might have from the very first minute to the last. They arranged our speedboat bookings, picked us up at the harbor, showed us around, went snorkeling with us, answered any questions we had about „living on the Maldives“…. Ahmed is always around, keeping the house clean, bringing in a lovely coffee to your private little courtyard when you are welcoming the day. Fresh linen is provided frequently just as fresh towels for shower and beach usage. The cooks in the kitchen will cook anything from the menu or anything else you would like (and need - dietary requirements! Thank you) - Adam frequently comes by with fresh fish and offers some special dishes that are always excellent! You can eat in the house, cafe, courtyard - wherever you like ...you decide Living in this small Maldivian home with its 3 rooms we quickly felt „at home“. You truly live on a Maldivian, local island with all its challenges (climate change, erosion, refurbishment of island,power, waste management) and all its comforts: no tourist crowds, friendly, welcoming islanders, no traffic (only some motorbikes going slowly on the sandy roads), no pressure to buy or have something - you are on a "different planet" and for us this was very relaxing. 2 family members are quite good volleyball players and they where accepted from the local team of excellent players. They could come to their training sessions in the evening on the perfect floodlight court. Thank you so much for your patience with us!! If you want to do water sports , other than snorkeling you can walk barefoot 2 minutes and you reach Dive+Sail. Here you find really nice guys with whom you can arrange diving, waters sports of all kinds... and you dont have to que. We where there in October and where lucky to really have "private lessons". It couldn't have been better. Nicht gefallen · There is nothing at the island host we didn't like! If you don't expect a resort island but are open to "normal life" on a local island, bring some coverage for swimming at local beaches (the bikini beach is open to bikini wear - and its just being refurbished) can enjoy life and the detox without alcohol, shopping, crowds - you will experience a very laid back and relaxed stay on Velidhoo at the islandhost. If you are worried about "medical care": we actually had to seek help and again Adam arranged everything for us. On the island is a medical unit for smaller issues (in the future there will be a bigger hospital). 30 Minutes by boat you reach a bigger regional hospital (Adam came with us) with all the specialists and modern diagnostics. It was very well organized and we got quick relief and help from all departments required. Thank you Adam and thank you to your family for being such comfort and help in every situation.
