Stayed there for a night.
Location wise, it was great as it was right at the centre.

Room was quite big, but the majority of the things including wardrobe and TV were just for decoration.

For some reason water in the bathroom area was really dirty as if mud was mixed with it. I was planning to take a good shower before starting my day, but everything was ruined due to very dirty water. I had to wash my face with mineral water.

We have book hotel Royal penguin at Khatmandu but very bad experience lift not working and give 3rd floor we all Senior citizen staffs only 6/7 in hotel after 10 reception close and hotel also close 1030 next day restaurant people coming after 7 am beer not in stocks tv remot not working phone not working 4 star hotel how you give its 0 star hotel any Indian please chk review of hotel first and after go Hotel Royal penguin *--5 point because as* per give instructions in website who can give 4 star hotel ????? Loved the hotel. Amenities were excellent. Huge bathtub, hair dryer, spacious bed and room. Location is superb. Near to all Thamel area but on a quiet road. Courteous staff. Nothing to complain. Only issue is lift is not working in the hotel but I choose to ignore that due to other positive points. Last but not the least, absolute value for money.

It feels like the hotel once offered a premium stay, but over time, maintenance has been neglected, and it shows.

The chair needs repair; the overhead lights and bathtub drainage were not working properly; and amenities such as handwash and shower gel should have been provided.

Location-wise, it is in the center of Thamel and by the road, so vehicle and crowd noise are noticeable.

I am a Canadian that was in Nepal when the pandemic started. While frantically trying to get back to Canada my friend and I needed a place to stay in Kathmandu. We ended up staying at this hotel for two weeks and I truly don't know what we would've done without them. The staff made us feel safe and cared for during such a stressful time. Also the food is awesome!! Should've written this review 4 years ago!!

Pros:
- Location (neighborhood Thamel is very central)
- Room aesthetics (modern feel with cool lighting).

Cons:
- Wifi didn't work for our stay of 2 days, after multiple conversations with reception.
- When checking out they couldn't process credit cards (even though I had specifically asked during check-in). Had to run to the ATM and pay hefty transaction fees.
- Bathroom door didn't close, safety locker didn't close, and even front door didn't close reliably.
- Foyer light flickered consistently.

Overall, the brief stay was riddled with inconveniences. Previously I have stayed in a cheap hostel in Kathmandu that worked better in these respects.

room was near clean, service staff where very friendly and helping nature. The hotel really provided the peace for which I had gone for the vacation, only spa I missed which wasn't available but in the room there was an equipment for excercise. Food as in breakfast and lunch which I tried in the hotel was really tasty and good. Hotel is located in beautiful and exciting area. I would recommend this hotel 👍👌👌

it's a old hotel,and lot of things in the rooms are old,not much cared.renovations are impotant.breakfast is good,service is very good.people are working from 8 to 10 years,and good to know. as the festival has been approaching,the md hasn't provided the value to the guest,that was said by the hotel stafss. it's a matter of the respect to the job,every one has to understand
