Have an unforgettable wedding night. You were sent to another hotel in the middle of the night in your wedding dress due to a reception error, but after the kids' help, you were at the Van der Valk Middelburg. What a room! Hot tub, sauna, champagne... need I say more? What threatened to be a scam turned into an unforgettable experience! Or, as JC said... every disadvantage has an advantage...

We stayed at the hotel recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We ate in the restaurant on our first night, and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A new extension will be opening soon, which includes a pool, sauna, and fitness center.

Booked again for 2 nights after 2 years. The location is slightly outside the town, although by bike it was about 4 kilometers to the center. The hotel is clean, well-organized, and stylishly decorated. There is a large outdoor terrace with plenty of spaced seating. The comfort room was spacious with a coffee/tea maker. Large modern bathroom with a bathtub and walk-in shower. The food is tasty and plentiful. A minor point for improvement is implementing a designated walking route during breakfast. Many guests do not wear face masks, and when fetching breakfast, guests walk criss-cross through each other, staying within 1.5 meters. We chose to wear a face mask. The hotel is definitely recommended!

The hotel and its amenities were excellent, and I will certainly return. The rooms—and the hotel overall—were exceptionally clean, so compliments to the housekeeping team. All the staff were polite and welcoming across the reception, restaurant, and other facilities.

My only suggestion is to expand the restaurant’s food options. For example, there was only one salad available—the Caesar salad. Other branches of this hotel offer additional choices, such as a steak salad, which was outstanding. It would also be helpful to include another light option, such as grilled chicken with vegetables. Additionally, the fries served with the steak were seasoned with paprika; offering a simple version with just fries and salt would be appreciated.You can look into the Menu of hotel ARA for example which is temporarily closed.

To whom this may concern.
I was very disappointed in the hotel hotline, the Jung lady who picked up the phone spoke Dutch and I asked her, if she speaks English and she said no and hung up the phone.
The call was taken place at 21:35 on Wednesday 25 of February.
Very unpolite & unprofessional.

My work colleagues like the hotel, I will still consider to book a room.

Very, very rude receptionist. I was not impressed. She was extremely unhelpful - she did not program my key properly and after trekking halfway round the hotel to find out it didn’t work, she rudely spoke to me and made me wait in a big queue to get a new one, despite me telling her we had a taxi waiting for us to take us for dinner and we were running late.
I also called down for an iron and an ironing board and she was so rude and told me I had to collect it myself. Not what I would expect from such a nice hotel. Very disappointed.

I had a very nice stay in this hotel !

I wanted to have a good rest there and I had it : there is a very good sound insulation between rooms, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is in overall very clean. The spa part is quite small but you have everything you need : cold and hot sauna / hammam / swimming-pool, even a nice gym (if only I knew !)

Regarding the food (I tested only breakfast), everything was delightful, from sweet to salty, with a lot of variety in all types of meals proposed.

All the different people I met from the reception to the cleaning staff were very kind and professional.

The only downside for me : the hotel is placed in an activity zone, not far from the highway and a few km by walk from Middelburg downtown, so there's nothing much around to see.

I didn't know the brand Van Der Valk as we don't have many in France, but I warmly recommend this hotel ! I would probably think about other hotels of this chain as an interesting option in the future.

A great hotel but if you need to do any work online you will struggle. The wifi is intermittent and slow doesn’t begin to cover it. The area also has shocking mobile coverage so very difficult to work from here.
