Hugely Disappointed
We were really looking forward to our stay at the Antria Boutique Lodge in Blenheim. We had read really positive reviews before we arrived. On arrival we were most surprised to be greeted by a note from the owners to say that they were out of town at a Christmas event and that we should settle ourselves in but there was someone we could contact if required. We were also advised that there would be someone to make us a continental breakfast in the morning, however we had pre paid for a full breakfast! Whilst the accommodation in appearance is shabby chic and could be lovely, the general cleanliness and day to day household management was below par with dead flowers, dirty duvets and general mess all over the property…..Zoe who prepared our breakfast and was very polite and amenable confirmed to us that the reason we were not offered a full cooked breakfast was because this was only offered when the owners are in residence !! It would have been good to have been able to make a complaint but as the owners were absent during our stay that was impossible!
Suffice to say we will unfortunately not be recommending this lodge to anyone who may be coming to the area!

Whatever reviews you are reading these only reflect the owners’ cheery disposition. This is basically a homestay. The accommodation was very basic and needed a thorough deep clean. Insects everywhere and the place smelt of wet dog. It is miles out of town, so if you are vineyard hopping nothing is walkable and taxis and public transport virtually non existent. Breakfast was ok but very little choice. We couldn’t wait to leave.

we had an amazing time staying at Antria Lodge.
Caro and Hugh are fantastic host while the Lodge is homely and welcoming. If you are after an unforgettable experience while sightseeing the beautiful Marlborough region and enjoy great food and good wine, then this Lodge is for you.

A lovely setting. Rooms were very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed our interlude in Blenheim and staying at Antria Lodge made it special.

A lovely rustic Guest House with spacious, tastefully furnished rooms and public areas. There is thoughtfully placed furniture outside each room for al fresco drinks or food. The grounds contain a small swimming pool and gardens (including a small vineyard). The rooms aren’t serviced during your stay, although fresh towels will be provided on request. The owners (Caro and Hugh) are a lovely, personable couple. The house is about 5km from the centre of Blenheim but Caro or Hugh will drive you into town, if they are available, for a small fee if you don’t want to drive, or there are taxis available. Breakfast was nicely served in a lovely dining room with classical music playing in the background. However, the food options were very limited. We had delicious scrambled eggs (from their own hens) and smoked salmon each morning, but no offer of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast, preserves, fruit juices etc.

Sadly we ended up leaving and found alternative accommodation in Picton.
The room was not 4 star in anyway.
The shared areas of the house were extremely cluttered and the kitchen looked the same and dusty and unclean. The slippers had been worn, there was only one bath robe. The pool looked murky and dirty. The whole place had random things just left around. The cost of 1000 NZ dollars per night is laughable.
We have stayed in many wonderful hotels around the world for less than that.

What a delightful, welcoming and warm oasis of charm and haute cuisine! Caro and Hugh were just superb hosts in this restful retreat amongst the vines and beautiful Blenheim countryside. Lovely spacious rooms, paintings and quirky art. A must stay if you are looking for something superb and intimate when you visit Marlborough

Booked 2 rooms (described as suites)for 3 days. Arrival greeting was a letter on the doorstep saying help yourself, owner may not be back that day! Large rooms not suites. Slippers were used. Rooms not serviced once in 3 days. Extras to be paid in Cash. Breakfast - no choice given what was going and no cereals fruits or juices. Owner not available on last morning so left a continental breakfast. Okay we’re approaching end of season but this was not a welcoming experience and the place was cold and uninviting.

Fantastic - from the welcome, the setting, to the room - you could not ask for anything more. We turned up very early in the morning we were due to check in as we had a tour that picked us up from the lodge - not a problem, we were given a coffee and biscuit and sat beside the pool waiting for our lift. Breakfast was a very harty affair - cooked and very filling. The rooms are superb - very large and arranged around the pool. Could not have asked for anything better
