PortoBay Blue Ocean in Lagos

I have to say that the sevice at the TUI BLUE Falesia hotel is the best I have ever experienced. The location is great being on top of the cliff overlooking Olhos d Agua and the hotel is first class.

Very placenta and relaxed place. The staffs including domestics makes this place extraordinary. Will highly recommend this place to any body who want to come and relax from a hectic or strainaus work life. Food is delicious. Good bus accessibility to old towm ( get details and bus time table from reception).

I previously visited this hotel when TUI Blue relaunched it quite some years ago so I knew it was spacious with good sized rooms and grounds. However, PortoBay have refurbished it and raised it to a new level. We had a side sea view room facing up the beach towards Vilamoura, so could see the morning sun rise. On arrival, we sensed our stay would be enjoyable when a porter met our TUI transfer coach and collected our luggage to take to our room. We were not disappointed. The hotel is well staffed and all were very friendly and efficient including a drinks service around the large pool area. The large grounds are immaculately maintained and PortoBay have added a board walk to their adjacent hotel, the Falesia. I was surprised that we could use the Falesia bars and charge to our room at the Blue Ocean. and amazed that on leaving my reading glasses there, they were returned to our reception with our room number. There are direct access to the beaches via a wooden walkway and 160 steps that might be a bit much for some, or a pavement walk down to the Olhos sea front and bars. It would be a great enhancement if PortoBay could add a lift from their garden down the cliff to the Olhos beach road. The restaurant meals have a varied menu and are nicely presented. Outside seating was very popular and had a short queue at peak times The quality of the hot food was generally good but we felt some dishes would have benefited from higher quality ingredients. However, overall, this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in and it will be on my shortlist for next year.

On 15 July 2025, the Portobay Blue Ocean hotel was opened, after a thorough overhaul and renovation of the former TUI Blue Falésia hotel. It’s located in Olhos de Água, on top of the cliffs near a marvelous beach, with breathtaking views. It’s an outstanding, spacious and spotless accommodation, which will appeal to those who are looking for a relaxed holiday in the Algarve. The interior design of the rooms and the public areas is magnificent and the facilities are great. A large outdoor pool, another (adults only) pool on the first floor, an indoor pool, spa area, more than enough comfortable sun-beds (fortunately no early-morning towel race !), tennis court, fitness room, terraces with a sea view and a little shop. Enjoy a cocktail or other drink at the Lounge Bar, with a daily happy hour (50% discounts). The Lima Bar at the pool offers nice snacks and drinks service. In the afternoons and evenings the hotel offers live music performances. The Mercado Restaurant offers an excellent breakfast and dinner buffet as well as an à la carte lunch. Besides this restaurant, you can have a delicious evening meal at the Flor de Sal brasserie. Highly recommended!! Guests can also use facilities at the neighbouring sister hotel, the Portobay Falésia (don’t forget to book a dinner at the Il Basilico restaurant!). The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly; thanks so much for the great service! We really enjoyed our two-week stay at the Portobay Blue Ocean and will definitely book again!

Beautiful hotel which was spotless clean. As an all inclusive booking the only access to food post 6pm was evening meal and felt missing access to snacks in the evening. Very relaxed and laid back setting where nothing was a rush. Maybe some.music in and arou d the pool.area during the day and access to more evening entertainment with games or alternative to jusy the band that were playing would have been good. Overall a pleasant stay and loved the room size and walk in shower
