Church of the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple of Jerusalem in Vyazma
Description
Two-storey stone Church of the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple of Jerusalem (1748-1749.) in the style of Naryshkin Baroque with its four-tiered bell tower (1763) is erected by the parishioners in the place of another two wooden churches - the Introduction and Epiphany so on the first floor was consecrated the throne of Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple of Jerusalem, and on the second floor - the throne in the name of the Epiphany.
In the middle of the XIX century the Church became too small and in the big holidays could not accommodate all parishioners. Therefore, in 1862, to the temple on the North side was built two-storey stone chapel with altars in honor of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk and St. Tikhon of Kaluga. During the great Patriotic war the Church was not damaged. But after the war, local authorities made a joiner's workshop, opened the builders' club.
In 30-ies of XX century the Church was closed. In March 1992 the Cathedral was returned to the diocese of Smolensk. The service in the Church began in 1994.
There is a Sunday school in the church.
