Trinity Cathedral in Vyazma
Description
The town's main Cathedral
The main cathedral of the ancient city of Vyazma is located in the centre, high on Cathedral hill. It first meets the travelers at the entrance in the Soviet area from the motorway M1 Moscow-Minsk.

The town's birthday is celebrated on the Orthodox holiday of the Holy Trinity. The white-stone Trinity Cathedral was built in just 2 years, on the money of the Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, who visited Vyazma in 1654, together with the Patriarch Nikon. Prior to that, since 1015, this place was occupied by wooden church, which periodically fell into decay or was ruined by Polish forces
In 1765 the merchants brothers Kalashnikovs brought the Iveron icon of the Mother of God, the most revered by residents of Vyazma to this day.
May 3, 1993, the Cathedral was visited by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II.
There is a Sunday school in the church.
