I had booked La Modestie Guest House four months in advance for my November stay at a very fair price. Everything was confirmed — even the property manager (Francine) personally approved my room and bed requests.
But now, barely a month before my arrival, they suddenly message me claiming “maintenance issues” and are forcing me to cancel my booking. When I checked online, the same rooms are still available for my exact dates — just at double the price!
It’s very clear that this is not about maintenance — it’s about greed. They’re trying to make more money by canceling old bookings and re-listing the same rooms at higher rates. This is completely unprofessional and dishonest behavior, especially towards guests who plan early and organize travel, ferries, and transfers around the confirmed stay.
Do not trust this place! They can cancel your booking anytime under fake excuses just to overcharge someone else later.
Save yourself the stress — book somewhere else with genuine hospitality and ethics.
And also. As seen on picture we have a little visitor in bed. Between two sheets there was a cockroach. It was there after housekeeper changed the sheets.
Now, i would have decided to stay on cote D'or beach. It is much better there. There is nothing to do on Grand Ans.
