Hotel Medina de Toledo in Toledo

Nice cozy little hotel only a short walk to entrance at halfway point of escalators which take you up to the old town. Nice views of the new town from rooms and the small cafeteria space. Staff was friendly with a handy Euro-breakfast service in cafeteria to fuel up before sightseeing. Small rooms but beds comfortable. One annoying negative which underlies the low overall rating - a very strong smell of sewage emanating from our bathroom, barely contained by keeping the door closed. (This is noted in another review for this hotel). Mentioned this to staff who said that they would investigate it. Only action on their part was to refill the electric liquid-air-freshener dispenser with a stronger scent, resulting in a perfumed smell of sewage. This could be a structural problem with the plumbing, i.e. it is not properly vented to prevent the backup of sewer gases. If so, this would also effect the rooms above and below ours (room numbers ending in 01 at the end of the hall). So I would avoid those if you choose to stay here.
