Loved the Blue Elephant Tourist Guesthouse. Quaint decor, clean rooms & bathrooms, great service. The staff is exceptionally helpful, esp Yuantha. I'm a vegetarian (no eggs even) and he was so gracious to make sure I got my breakfast at the right time every morning. Everyday I would be given something different - string Hoppers, eggless pancakes, dosa.. On my second last day, met another equally courteous staff member, Sulakha (I believe). He knew Hindi and we conversed a bit. It was nice to be able to speak in Hindi to a non- Indian :)
The guesthouse is more like a hotel :) and it's just a hop, skip and jump away from the beach!! Loads of other restaurants in the nearby walking vicinity.
I would recommend this place.

We had lunch at the restaurant and we really enjoyed it! Sidath was very kind, always asking if we wanted something else. My jumbo shrimps were delicious! The pool seemed calm but unfortunately we didn't have our bathing suits. Also wr loved that the place was calm and quiet, away from the noisy beach!

Pretty good place to eat. The food is good, didn't take long to wait for the food. The personnel is nice. The portions are big and tasty. You can eat outside as well as inside in the building. You can pay by cash or credit card. There is a big variety of food and drinks to pick. There is always a free table so you'll surely find where to sit.
