Khujand Deluxe Hotel in Khudzhand

The Khujand Deluxe Hotel tried its best but it is nowhere near a 4 star hotel. Upon arrival there was a power blackout and the tiny lift stopped, luckily there was nobody in it. Everyone decided to take the stairs after the lift incident! But it was an effort with all the bags and very dangerous silk floor runners that were loosely fixed to the stairs. One woman in our group fell over.

Some of the rooms were apartment style. I got a 1 bedroom apartment, the loungeroom was huge. The main bedroom had a window that was stuck open and it was cold so I ended up sleeping on the single bed in the loungeroom. Hot water good, wifi good.

No restaurant at the hotel, nearest one was 10 mins walk. No mini mart nearby. The hotel is in a residential area with nothing to do. It is a bordertown to get you back over to Uzbekistan.

The breakfast was chaotic with a large bus group in addition to ours that had eaten most of the food. The staff seemed overwhelmed and there was a shortage of cutlery.

We had an exceptionally large apartment style room (separate bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom) more suitable for a family though without the extra beds. Others in our group were less fortunate. Room was quite dated but OK (70’s - 90’s) furnished in Tajik/Soviet style. Maybe ‘deluxe’ back then. Good for novelty value. Cubicle shower/spa without the working extras. Hotel location is well away from the city centre though we were there only overnight. Breakfast was mediocre.

The room was large enough and the bed OK. However, the water was only luke warm and I could't stop the sweep on the AC so I was in a draught. The lift is tiny. There was a balcony but kids were squealing outside until after 10.30pm. Breakfast wasn't bad.
