Srivichai Hotel in Nakhon Ratchasima City

Srivichai is the definition of a budget hotel, and as such it is a good option for the cost conscious traveler, as well as flat-out cheapskates like me. Luxury folks should probably look elsewhere. My room was about as simple as they come. The design touches made me think the hotel was probably constructed in the 60s or 70s, and the furnishings probably have not been updated much since then. However, bed and bedding were comfortable, everything worked, and I especially appreciated the surprisingly solid wifi. The staff is as pleasant and helpful as can be, very nice folks, and they are sparing but adequate with their accessories. The hotel is in a great central location, near plenty of shopping and eating options, although to be honest Korat is not the most hopping town in the Land of Smiles. Still it’s a mellow spot to stop and recharge. A couple of points to note. I ‘d say most of the negatives of my room registered in the bathroom. I didn’t particularly care, but some will find the towels sandpapery, probably due to laundry chemicals. The ceiling was very low, to the point that I had only a few inches of clearance and literally had to duck at the entrance. The tiny shower was the usual inscrutable tangle of hoses so common in Asian hotels, but the water pressure was fine. None of these complaints are deal breakers, however. This hotel is very reasonably priced and a solid choice, all things considered. I would recommend this property for the budget traveler.

Older hotel in the center of town. Old TV and big old air conditioning on the floor next to the bed. The hotel has its own restaurant with dining both inside and outside along the road which looked nice, but time was too short to be able to sit down.

The price was favorable and I didn't use the TV or the air conditioning, and the rest worked. Coffee and other things were available in a room next to reception in the morning.

The hotel has a good location. That's the only downside we saw. The rest is very old. When we entered the room, the first smell we got was musty, very musty. The blanket was so musty that it gave us a headache. The air conditioner was a floor-standing type, and it made a loud noise like a tractor. It was so loud all night long that we couldn't sleep. We were going crazy. Everything in the room was old. The bathroom had a tub, but it was the kind you can stand up and shower in. The water temperature was adjusted in a weird way. Everything was lacking. We couldn't get a good night's sleep because of the noise from the air conditioner.
