Nongkhai City Hotel in Nong Khai

I have stayed at the Nong khai City hotel many many times over the last nine years. I have always felt it was a good value for the money until two years ago. Since then, and now, the Hotel is run down and the owners have done little or no maintenance keep it clean and fresh.
They put me in room 107. I unpack my bags, and sat on the bed. The bed was not even comfortable to sit on for 1 minute let alone sleep on. The springs we're the only thing you could feel. I packed my bags backup went to the front desk and told her that I could not sleep on that bed and they moved me to room 105. The bed was only a little bit better but I decided to stay. 2 hours later I walked through the lobby, and they put another customer in room 107. 10 minutes later when I came back through the lobby that customer was complaining about the bed in 107. Why on Earth would they put a customer in a room, have them complain, have them change rooms, and then minutes later put another customer in that same room without fixing the problem?
The staff was not terrible but not especially helpful and spoke little or no English.
The air conditioning in both 105 and 107 was smelly and noisy. The bathroom grout was moldy and drains were very slow. Two bottles of water, one small bar of soap, one small bottle of cheap shampoo and a half a roll of toilet paper we're the only amenities I was given for 2 nights I stayed.
There are far better hotels on the same street as this one, with much better service, much nicer rooms, comfortable beds and friendly helpful staff and the same great location.
Unfortunately I must say goodbye to the Nong khai City Hotel until they make some serious changes in the facility.
