Orca Island Cabins in Seward

I cannot say enough great things about our stay at Orca Island Cabins. My husband and I stayed 2 nights which is the minimum I’d recommend staying to truly immerse yourself in this slice of paradise. Orca Island Cabins website and FAQ section had us fully prepared for our experience (remote location, need to bring food, no WiFi, young children not allowed, etc), and any negative reviews seem to be individuals lacking in reading comprehension.

I loved our cozy yurt, our amazing view of Humpy Cove, and the main bridge on the property—SO unique! The owners have truly created something special here allowing you to escape the everyday hustle and bustle and connect with nature and your traveling companion. We enjoyed our private dinners grilled on our balcony while taking in the views and we loved just lounging with a book or a cocktail (bring your supplies!).

We also took advantage of the provided kayaks to go about 20 minutes each way to a gorgeous waterfall. We were the only ones there—AMAZING! Although I know kayak companies in the area charge a pretty penny to take you on a tour that goes there. I factored not having to pay for a kayak tour in to the cost of our stay.

The water taxi to and from Orca Island Cabins was also a treat. Our Captain, Simon, made sure to point out wildlife both trips and we were lucky enough to see a humpback whale both directions. We also woke up to a Humpback whale right outside our first morning there.

Seriously, if you’re ok roughing it just a bit (no room service, no chocolate on your pillow), do not hesitate to book your stay at Orca Island Cabins. For us this was part of a 12 day trip in Alaska including a week long cruise and this was hands down our favorite part of the whole trip—we will be back!!!

My husband and I stayed one night in mid-July. This was our favorite thing we did in Alaska and we agree that hobbits, elves and mermaids probably abound on those green shores, interspersed with waterfalls, edging the aqua water. This place is incredible in every way. We kayaked in calm waters, tied our kayaks to rocks and walked a short way up a beautiful stream to a roaring waterfall. Then we paddled back to our extremely comfy yurt with a propane fireplace, a porch with views of the perfection surrounding us, and everything we could possibly need. The cabins, bridge, and pathways to the group fire rings and covered deck area are a masterpiece of workmanship surrounded by moss and forest. Even in the rain this place is paradise. Special thank you to Simon for the wildlife tour on the way there...we saw humpback whales and otters, and for the introduction to Humpy Cove that inspired my non-kayaker husband to paddle over to the big waterfall with me. Thank you to Meg for being our knowledgeable and patient overnight host on the island. This experience is worth every penny! We haven't smiled so much in a very long time. ☺️☺️

Orca Island Cabins are in a magical location. This was our second year there and we brought the whole family. From the time we were picked up at the dock the experience was perfect. The boat crew and staff were friendly and helpful. They had everything we needed for a fabulous Alaskan adventure from snorkeling gear to kayak to fishing. I would 100% recommend this trip!

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Orca Island for our first wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t be happier that we chose to celebrate such a special occasion there. We hoped the island would live up to the incredible reviews, photos, and videos we had seen beforehand, but the experience exceeded every expectation. It was nothing short of magical.

The yurt was simple, cozy, and exactly what we were hoping for. The walk through the moss-covered forest to reach it was breathtaking and felt like something out of a storybook. We watched otters from our deck and were even lucky enough to get up close to “the old man” otter while kayaking, with a curious seal following closely behind. It rained for about half of our full day on the island, which may have disappointed some visitors, but for us it was the perfect excuse to linger a little longer beneath the flannel sheets beside the warmth of the gas fireplace and simply enjoy being together.

What truly made our stay unforgettable, though, were the people. Every member of the staff was welcoming, helpful, and genuine. They were honest about what to expect, attentive throughout our stay, and clearly passionate about preserving the unique experience Orca Island offers. Their authenticity and care are what will bring us back again and again.

Great experience disconnecting from the rest of the world. Beautiful scenery! Staff was amazing! We have never stayed in a yurt before so it definitely was a new experience for us and we loved every minute of it. Low tide, we saw lots of sea star on the rocks and several sea otters playing. We enjoyed the evening sitting by the fire pits visiting with the other guests. Would definitely recommend and go again!

Wow. This place is beautifully set up. The Stellar Jay yurt has a battery operated lantern. Bring a headlight! No internet which is absolutely fine- stay outside and enjoy the views. We saw a bear picking up lunch from the salmon river around the bend, by the waterfall, & that was incredible. We lit a fire and other guests joined us and made S'Mores. The boat ride to Orca Island was enjoyable. We went to Safeway and as a side note, you can take a "free shuttle" there. Look for the bus/shuttle stops in Seward or ask someone where these stops are. This free shuttle, is a service the town of Seward provides for all. Gage about 30 mins give or take when it comes back around. Pick up your Ice at J Dock. Staff is very helpful , they'll carry your luggage/bags onto the boat & into your Yurt. A Must Do, glamping place to visit

The ocean view was spectacular with teal waters and islands and mountains all around. The cabins are located in a cove, so it is safe for kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards, all available for use. They even provided dry suits for us.

The cabin was very comfortable and clean. At night, it was very quiet.

The staff were very friendly, going beyond to be helpful. One person even helped my son fish and clean the fish for us. He was so nice.

What can I say about Orca Island other than Amazing. From the moment that we arrived at the dock, we were met by friendly people, and everything was so well organized. Simon, our captain took us on a wonderful boat ride to the island pointing out wildlife as we went. Everybody was so helpful and made our stay perfect. You can’t beat the views. It’s so incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We had one day of sun and one of rain, but even in the rain, orca island is a beautiful place to be. Being completely unplugged allowed us to sit by the fire pit and meet many really cool people from all over the country. Orca Island Cabins was definitely the highlight of our Alaskan vacation.

I like everything it’s our first time , when we don’t have complain about anything 🙌🙌🙌10/10 totally recommend , it’s the best place
