Ruidoso River Resort in Ruidoso

This place really surprised us. Don’t get me wrong, the outside looks nice, but inside the resorts… the rooms are spacious and super cool!! From the fireplace to the balcony views, the resort did not disappoint. Close to town, we walked around and found some nice local shops.

The Ruidoso River Resort has been our home away homy home for over 15 years! We’ve spent Christmas and so many special family events in the confort of these condominiums. Our hearts are broken to see the devastation these floods have caused to the resort, and we hope it will soon be up and running. Looking forward to visiting again very soon. Prayers and well wishes.

This was a very nice condominium. It was in a great location for walking around Ruidoso. It was quiet and the courtyard was very nice. The beds were comfortable. We had a great time!

We have stayed at Ruidoso River Resort many times. The accommodations are great, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is amazing. Sit outside and have coffee on the deck or stay inside and enjoy the fireplace. There is a full kitchen with everything you need. These condos are easy walking distance to downtown. We’ve never had a bad experience staying here. We would highly recommend!

The facility is really nice! Great location in midtown Ruidoso. Easy to walk to local shops, restaurants and bars. Located right on the river, it's very peaceful and serene. The units are fully equipped and modern. No issues with any equipment in the unit. The bed is super comfy!

Great resort with awesome communication! Our condo had everything we needed and was perfect for us. Condo was clean and our balcony looked out on the river where we saw elk and wild horses just walking around. Seamless check in and checkout! Will stay at again if available when we return next year!!

The place is beautiful! The decor, the cleanliness, the kitchen is stocked well with appliances, the staff is responsive and professional. Second time I'm staying here. Absolutely love it.

We arrived on 29 Dec. 2024, left on 3 Jan 2025. Great weather, disappointed that there was zero snow. Little on the Mountains. Beautiful drive in. Red River Resort is located about the middle of town and 1 block off the main drag. You can walk to most anywhere you want to go. The Condo, 2 bed was on 3rd floor and actually had one Elevator to get you to the 3rd floor. No key required, push a set of numbers in and push unlock. Push lock when leaving. Simple! Inside was rustic, compy couch, chair, table and chairs and bed was great shape! Fireplace(gas). Central A/H. Nice bathroom with deep tub for 2. Very good water pressure. Has stacked washer dryer. Kitchen had everything you need. You can not go wrong staying here. Secure, quite. Great people that work the office. See them on Facebook. Snow is coming this week! Just missed it.

The resort is beautifully situated and centrally located. The apartment was well-laid-out, spotlessly clean, and extremely comfortable, with high ceilings, good atmospheric lighting, several nice area rugs, attractive furniture, a gas fireplace, and a large well-equipped bathroom with a washer/dryer unit in an adjacent closet. We didn’t use the kitchen much, but there was every pot, pan, dish, cup and glass anyone could ever want along with a good set of knives and other food prep tools, even herbs and spices. The windows in our unit (3-305) were well soundproofed (not that there was any need) and overlooked a rushing stream that made an excellent sound backdrop. The balcony was good sized and had chairs and a dining table. Heating worked fine and based on that we assume the A/C would too in warmer weather. Extra touches included good bedside table lamps for reading, more than enough electrical outlets, and very fast internet. I will say that from our standpoint, the king-sized bed was too soft, but I realize people have different preferences in that regard. The final point I’ll now discuss at some length is why I put both the “plus” and the “minus” in the title. The plus: the resort has clearly articulated rules in terms of social gatherings, quiet times, guests, music, post visit clean-up, and every other conceivable matter. From our perspective, that was a very very very good thing, but the resort is clearly not a place where people who like to party hard will want to stay. The minus: I repeat that we had no issue with any of the rules, but the way they were spelled out in the rental agreement seemed legalistic, excessive and even a little creepy. The agreement, which was sent in electronic form attached to an email *after* the payment transaction was completed, was several pages long and required initialing in several places and a signature at the end. The initialing related to each “set” of rules. And then there was this: “There will be NO refunds to LEASING TENANT due to ANY breakdown of appliances, HVAC systems, TVs, other appliances or other [ . . . ] equipment.” Really? If I can’t occupy my room because it’s below freezing inside, surely I should be entitled to receive a refund, right? Clearly, the owners of the resort have a very competent legal team at their beck and call. It wasn’t a big thing, but I did leave feeling a little like a schoolchild who might have been scolded if I had transgressed . . .
