200 South Street Inn in Charlottesville

This is a nice place to stay. It has changed a lot from what it used to be. It's very impersonal and lost quite a bit of its charm. It used to be one of our favorite places to stay.

Have been staying here for years and loved the quaintness of the property. This year, everything changed. No more homieness bit total automation. In some cases good, but lacks the true b and b experience which brought us here in the first place.
In addition, as I mentioned, everything is automated sonifbyiu have a problem, you have to call an 800#. We had an issue with internet on our first night. I’m kit a complainer by nature and tried to work it out for 45 minutes before I resorted to calling the number. The person answering my call was really good and fixed my issue but for $500 a night, don’t need to have an issue with internet? They have internet in Sudan for crying out loud!
The next night, we came home to find a packed parking lot behind the inn. 12 rooms, 15 parking spots and I am a guest. No spots to park so, again, I called the 800 #. BTW, I stay at Marriott’s all over the country and have never called the #800 to gripe about anything , esp parking or internet or paid this rate to stay). Was told to download a QR code and park down the street (shouldn’t I be able to parking my own lot???). Somewhat inconvenient and not as safe as the lot behind the inn.
Bottom line… nice hotel that used to be a true b and b. Now a smart home w absolutely no personal connection. South Street Inn, you lost me as a customer but you have a nice hitel

Surprisingly small and dingy room for $320 a night. The landscaping is beautiful and the wine and cheese hour was nice. Overall, pretty mid for the price.
