Reviews
Our stay at the Riviera resort was cut short due to multiple reasons that made our stay unbearable. A couple of hours in we already decided to shorten our 3 night stay down to just one and I will outline each reason why. If you believe that I’m being soft or are making unreasonable claims, you are clueless about the standards that resorts should be held at.
1. Arrival was poor and unwelcoming. The most you get is a staff member to help you with luggage. Other than that, it seems like no one cares.
2. Layout is confusing. Theres no clear paths or signs to where you want to go. Also no safety fences or signs when construction is happening. This occurred on the only flight of stairs down to the rest of the resort.
3. The resort looks and feels unfinished. It’s all white with little to no accents. Makes the place have no identity. It’s as if they wanted to start profiting asap and opened when they could.
4. Our room was uncomfortable to stay in. One of our windows wasn’t full sealed at the top allowing outside air in. Furthermore, the A/C is basically locked into one setting. Ours wouldn’t change temperature or swing the direction of air flow. Our shower won’t even stay the same temperature! Set it to what you want but every 3-4 seconds it will just cycle between a cold and warm stream of water. There’s no way to stand out of the way when changing the water current from handheld to shower without getting sprayed with freezing cold water is an abysmal layout choice. To top it off, theres mould along the taps and nobs for both the sink and showers. Just disgusting.
5. Privacy? Balconies aren’t properly privatised and you can see/go directly into another persons room through your balcony. Wifi is completely free and unsecured. Complete security risk especially in a place that controls passports.
6. How our complaints were handled. The best they could offer was a room upgrade. That’s it. A very poor and ‘easy path’ out to a customer complaint.
7. The food is atrocious. The quality seen at this resort is just sad. Every item I had there had an issue. The milk for the cereal wasn’t even cold! The pastries were extremely doughy and had a weird after taste. The yoghurt was low quality and wasn’t cold either. Noodle soup dishes were overly sweet and most of the food was cold by the time they were on our plates. AT LEAST the fruit was ok.
Resorts and spas advertise themselves as being top of the line hotel services yet this one doesn’t live up to any of that. It’s unfortunate because as hard as it is to hit all criteria, most places will excel in one or two that makes them stand out and appealing. Riviera Resort and Spa unfortunately excels in nothing. Save your money and your sanity by going to a different place. They say they’re 5 stars. Must be 5/10 or something.
Water park slides are for kids over 1,35m and not allowed even if your child can swim. I understand safety rules, but this would have been nice to mention somewhere. The smaller kids pool was ok, but you can see it's been worn out and need new paint and repair. Kid's club room was also worn out and stuffy atmosphere, the supervising adults didnt seems very welcoming, unlike other kids club we have been to in Thailand.
Breakfast seems wide but flavors and food quality were mediocre. I'm very happy I didn't buy all-inclusive package, at first it seemed cheap but actually with that same money you can get way better food outside even when you have to pay for taxi.
You can enjoy watching the beach but not allowed to swim as the rip currents are too strong, lifeguards will ask you to not go to the water.
Positive was the staff that were very friendly and helpful. But this place is far from 5 start resort maybe 3 star at most. I would stay in the Nha Trang city center with better food, cheaper massage and other services.
I remembered while I had the breakfast buffet, the cereal, it is suppose to be chunkcy and it wasn't.
