Reviews
CHECK IN: Ambassadors have their own check-in counter at the executive lounge. We arrived in the evening and were able to enjoy the happy hour while the staff prepared our key cards and brought our luggage upstairs so it didn’t feel like a wait at all.
EXECUTIVE LOUNGE: The lounge has breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour. Breakfast has similar food to the downstairs buffet, which had a wider variety of dishes so we opted to eat the breakfast buffet most days but Ambassadors can dine at both on the same day. I adored the rosemary cookies from afternoon tea and my partner loved the mango tart and banh mi, which admittedly didn’t look that appealing but ended up surprisingly tasty. The food options ranged from modern take on Vietnamese to other cuisines (e.g., sushi, scones, salads). There was fresh fruit and juices for every meal as well as coffee (try the Vietnamese iced coffee!), teas, and fresh coconut. The view was lovely from the 19th floor.
STAFF & SERVICE: Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive, probably the best I’ve seen at any JW Marriott. I never felt like anyone was trying to quickly wrap up a conversation - they were great at humoring me and answering my questions, even if it was something as mundane as what the names of the tropical fruits were (one woman, and I’m sad I forgot her name, was so detailed in her explanation and excited to share more about the Vietnamese culture). The executive lounge staff was especially notable.
Rooms were cleaned multiple times a day (it felt like they cleaned up after us every time we left the room) and housekeeping was very accommodating of our variable schedule. Any issues or requests we had were addressed very quickly.
ROOM: Our suite was huge with a beautiful view overlooking the city.
FOOD: I’ve observed with most Western hotels, the breakfast buffets tend to be a few Vietnamese dishes and a lot of other cuisines (Indian, American, Korean, Japanese primarily). It was included in our stay so we ate there every morning. They had a noodle station with beef and chicken pho that we ate each time. These were surprisingly delicious. We opted for the seafood dinner buffet one night and were blown away by the variety and tastiness.
OTHER: FX exchange rate is exactly what you’d get at the bank, making it very convenient for guests. The hotel also has a sauna, swimming pool, full gym, spa, and rooftop garden / bar where you can watch the sunset.
Excited to come back after the full remodel!
The most disappointing incident occurred on 31st December at around 11:58 PM at the pool bar, involving Mr. Sang. He abruptly and rudely stopped us from entering the main lawn, from where my 7-year-old daughter could have witnessed the New Year fireworks. There was absolutely no empathy, no courtesy, and no willingness to understand that this once-a-year midnight moment can never be brought back—especially for a child.
His behavior was shockingly rude. The way he physically blocked my wife and daughter from stepping onto the lawn, with cold and unpleasant facial expressions, is something I will never forget. It felt as if access to an open garden was being denied purely because we had not purchased tickets for the New Year celebration. This approach was insensitive, rigid, and completely against the hospitality standards one expects from a brand like JW Marriott.
What makes this experience even more disappointing is that no one from the hotel management reached out to us afterward. In other reputed hotels across countries, when staff members make such mistakes or encounter serious guest dissatisfaction, they proactively report the incident to their General Manager, who personally reaches out to the guest to calm the situation and restore trust. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened here—no apology, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to understand or correct the damage caused.
Additionally, during breakfast on other days, we noticed a few staff members displaying unhappy and frustrated expressions, which further affected the overall dining experience and guest comfort.
Despite being a loyal member, such incidents force me to seriously reconsider my choices in the future. Next time I travel to another country, I would prefer exploring other brands or properties that value basic human courtesy, empathy, and guest emotions, rather than rigid rules and indifferent behavior.
Well done, Mr. Sang, for turning what should have been a magical New Year moment for a child into a bitter and unforgettable disappointment.
Today I checked inn stayed at JW Marriott, expecting a luxurious experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The experience was not what I anticipated from such a renowned brand.
Check-In Process:
The check-in process was frustratingly inefficient. There was a lack of clear communication and explanation upon arrival. The staff seemed disorganized and did not provide the warm welcome or detailed information one expects when checking in at a hotel known for its luxury and service.
Room Quality:
The quality of the rooms was another letdown. They lacked the upkeep and elegance one associates with JW Marriott. The interiors felt outdated and worn, and the amenities provided did not match the high standards the brand promises. Attention to detail seemed to be missing, leaving the room far from the luxurious experience I was hoping for.
Overall Experience:
Although the hotel carries a prestigious name, the service and room quality did not meet those expectations. I left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. For the price paid, the experience was not justified.
The lack of luxury and attention to detail made this stay less enjoyable than it should have been. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration for improvements, as the potential for a fantastic experience is there. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel based on this experience. I hope that future guests will have a more positive experience as improvements are made.
One more thing..... personally I haven't seen this being at many luxury hotels but before my departure I receive a note from I believed her name is "Katie" regarding my stay and etc which is a nice touched for departure guest. Overall amazing service!
We arrived after midnight, so the check-in was quite swift.
My room was typical Intercontinental standard: big, comfortable and with all required amenities.
Breakfast was very good: plenty of choice, with both local and international options.
Service was professional and attentive.
