Reviews
I booked the "city view" double. The first room (603) had an AC with significant issues, so they moved me to 503. Both had great views. After sunset in 503, I heard constant squeaking noises by the window. Turned out to be bats living in a crack between the window frame and the wall! I even saw one fly out that evening (see video). They then moved me to 203, which had no view, just a sad gray wall. The AC in that room worked well during the day, but strangely at night would only cool the room to around 22 degrees.
Pros: the wifi was excellent. Nice desk and chair perfect for working. Big TV. Refrigerator and kettle. Elevator worked. There's parking for motos in the basement and for about 2 cars in the driveway. Besides the bats, no other bugs or rats. Staff happy to do maid service if requested. Free drinking water in the lobby.
Staff was always prompt and responsive. However I'm unsure if they want to fix long term issues; they just wanted me to be happy. When I left the bat-infested room I think they moved someone else into it right away. They may not understand that a broken AC or a bat infestation are undesirable things that need to be fixed.
The best part is the location. A really wonderful neighborhood right by the last remaining canal in Saigon, peppered with local cafes and restaurants. Reminds me of certain arrondissements in Paris before mass tourism. Not really near the tourist sites, but it's a wonderful place to enjoy urban living. Lots of restaurants around, especially on the other side of the canal. Several supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. The city's largest park is 500m away.
TV can connect to YouTube and Wi-Fi connection is strong.
A good choice for budget-friendly travellers.
However, one thing that could be improved is the housekeeping service. During my stay, the room was never cleaned, and the towels and drinking water were not replaced. It would have been much better if daily cleaning or at least basic refresh services were provided.
In conclusion, the hotel offers great value in terms of location and room size, but I hope they can improve their housekeeping service to make the experience even better.
