Tien Dat Mui NE Resort & Spa in Mui Ne

My family’s friend booked this hotel because our trip was kinda last-minute and the majority are fully booked. This hotel came up as a recommendation from a friend of his. The place was old but it was okay generally. Morning buffet offers wide range of food choices for my group. We stayed in the resort where it was only steps away from the sea (type of sea where it’s windy but not for sand combing or swimming). Location is great with nice restaurants nearby. My trip was all good except for the staffs at the lobby. First, they (esp this one manager-looking woman with unbelievable attitude) required to hold my ID (in case you don’t know, it’s ILLEGAL in Vietnam for hotels to hold guests’ personal papers, it’s even warned by governments on official announcements). When I required to have my ID back, this manager told me she has to hold as a kind of “mortgage”, as my group had not paid a single dime for the rooms (later on I discovered my friend had deposited already, around 3/13 mils total). We decided to pay the sum and take my ID back, and simply told them to learn from this mistake, as not even luxurious hotels and resorts allowed to do so, and this led to the second problem, the response of the staff. This manager-looking woman told my father luxurious hotels all required prepaid (not true btw, plus we deposited the money there, plus they can require our group to pay beforehand instead of holding my ID, which is, once again, illegal) and when my sister called to confront her, she said it’s all silly info that we Vietnamese learn from tiktok and facebook, it’s all not true, and that foreigner guests have no problem with it, but when asked for verbal confirmation of she holding my ID, she refused to say anything). She even pissed off, demand not talking/ answering to my sister question and told her to tell my father and the friend. It was all unprofessional and legally suspicious actions from this staff that killed off all the good thoughts I have for this hotel. I don’t expect much from this review, but only to let you all think twice before booking this hotel, and to let foreigners know that IT IS ILLEGAL FOR HOTELS TO HOLD GUESTS’ PAPERS.
