Hotel Lakaj in Velipoje

Stayed 3 nights at Hotel Lakaj — I do NOT recommend!!! Sheets and towels were never changed, food was terrible, and breakfast was way too early. Rooms are old, bathroom not clean, and no water in the shower first day. The worst part was the staff — extremely rude, lying, and unhelpful. They “taught” us a trick to close the broken door that a normal person couldn’t use. On the last day, when we asked for umbrellas, one staff member drove off in the golf buggy mocking us like a joke and didn't gave us umbrellas and we needed to pay for an umbrella.Terrible attitude and service. Hotel was far from the center and the beach in facebook they lied 200 meters but it was at least 20-25 minutes of walking.If hotels keep treating tourists like this, tourism in Albania will only get worse.

1. Cheating the tourists: the hotel charges for any additional drink at the breakfast (which is included in the lodging price), be it a second coffee, or a coffee and a juice etc., but this crucial information is hidden, and not displayed anywhere; if payment is made by cash, no receipt is provided upon request; 2. Cleanliness: the room is not cleansed, towels and bed sheets are not replaced; even the trash can is not emptied; 3. Timeliness: the restaurant does not open at the hour displayed on its door, affecting the schedule of organized circuits; 4. The Wi-Fi rarely worked in any place (room, restaurant, pool); 5. Attitude: the staff has a bad attitude towards the tourists, disrespectfull and not cooperant.

The hotel deceived me, and its reputation is not deserved. I was on an organized toor, and had to leave early, but the breakfast room was closed at the opening time, and I had to wait before getting in. I paid for the breakfast and found both coffee and juice in the breakfast room, and took both. The staff came and aggressively asked me to pay for one of them (they had always an unfriendly and arrogant attitude), as only one drink is included in the price. I could not find this information displayed or printed anywhere, and no receipt was given to me, pretending that cash payments are not eligible for a receipt. I suspect that this payment was illegal, at least for tax purposes. The trash can was never emptied, and towels and bed sheets never replaced despite my leaving them on the floor as instructed, and as done internationally. After otger tourists asked for it, only some towels (not all) were replaced after three days. Finally, the food choices are not diverse.

Very bad experience with this hotel. Food was horrible. They give you meal options but all of them are awful and smells very bad. Please be aware cause in past some people get sick from them food. We did not read all the reviews and we experienced a bad holiday at this “resort”, so get advised. The owner tried to give us free meals and drinks in exchange of a good review, so you should understand yourself how people give them 5 points rating. We chose to eat at another restaurant which is next to the beach and the food was very good. Accommodation was decent, far away from 3 stars, but passable (no amenities in the room except soap and toilet paper, drainage very bad when you use shower and easily can cause flood, mattresses old and smelly). Very crowded because located in front of international bus station, bad smell coming non stop from garbage can located right in fron of main entrance. Maximum 10 parking spots at the hotel which are insufficient to 50 rooms hotel (they say that are 25, spot but you can convince yourself). Nice clean swimming pool, but toilets and shower from swimming pool area are very dirty and smelly. The kids playground very small (do not trust pictures) a non safe kids cradle with slide (no safety bars and very dangerous) and an old unsafe trampoline. Get ready to pay everything in cash (they accept eur but they tried to scam us giving a bad eur/lek rate) and obviously they don’t give you receipts for money that you pay.
