Reviews
I booked Velipoja Grand Europa Resort, Affiliated by Meliá through Booking.com. When I arrived, the front desk receptionist immediately demanded cash, even though my booking was confirmed and secured with my card. The next day, they claimed my card “didn’t go through” and asked to hold my cash—but when I checked my account, I saw they had already taken the payment. This felt like a shady tactic to scam me out of more money.
It was clear they tried to take advantage of me because I was an American traveling with cash. While I was at the hotel, I noticed people following me around the property, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. I left without staying. After I left, the harassment continued—multiple calls and texts from different phone numbers, including a man claiming to be “the sheriff of the police.” This was intimidating, unprofessional, and alarming.
Why I felt unsafe:
• Pressured to hand over cash despite confirmed card payment.
• Contradictory explanations about my booking and payment.
• Followed on the property, making me feel watched and targeted.
• Harassing calls/texts from multiple numbers, some pretending to be law enforcement.
• Clear targeting because I was an American with cash on hand.
• Concern over who had access to my personal information.
This was one of the most unprofessional and threatening experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who values honesty, professionalism, and safety.
I swear that situation was very critical and can lead to many illnes for all the clients that uses them. I will never turn back there again. That was the worst experience
We had to pay to use a resort deck chair, pay to swim in the indoor pool. Couldn't swim in the outdoor pool, because it was too crowded...there were 3 people in it. And the waterpark was closed at 5pm so we couldn't enjoy that.
The dining room food was barely average and fellow tour group members suggested we eat elsewhere.
The drapes in our rooms were luxurious, except the trees are lying on their sides. The fridge door can't open fully and the air-conditioning was lame.
Would I recommend this hotel to anyone?
Only because of it's close proximity to the best restaurant in Velipoje, Norma Restaurant. 😀
The worst experience ever! Let alone the fact that i was only notified upon check in, that the hotel was not ready and open for guests, but also they were constantly refusing to refund me, by coming up with the same excuses that they were working on it for 2 months. They were not working on it, they were deliberately delaying to give me back my money, if not to say that they wouldn't refund me at all.
I was only refunded by booking, after 2 months of effortlessly sending emails, messages & phone calls to the hotel staff.
We ended up having to eat outside as the food is just not safe for human consumption.
We tried to complain but it wasn't taken into consideration.
Please stay away from this place.
Nothing looks what’s advertised!
We were turned away from getting breakfast wich we paid for because it was almost 10:00 am.
When we asked what is going on with indoor pool and jacuzzi they said that it’s not for use!
Service is bad especially in the pool area. Asking for menu they come with cell phone where you can see nothing!
Anoing music playing so loud in the pool area that you can’t even relax never the less talking a nap if you deside. For spanish music to lessen we can wacation in Mexico, Toilets by the pool they don’t have toilet seats in such fancy hotel!!!
Food is not good at all.
Weisted 3 days of my time.
Really I don’t like giving bed reviews but this girl in front of the breakfast area pushed me.
Hotel management should choose trained staff to bring guests to visit again.
Good luck.
We went to the local water park at the hotel today. Admission costs 12 euros (1200L), for small children 10 (1000L). There are many different slides, 3 pools, one for children with small slides, the second for more adult slides, and the third just to swim in deep water. Unexpectedly, one of the slides (blue) turned out to be completely unlit, driving in the dark, an unusual experiment :) There is a shower, toilet, everything is in order.
The only negative is that the seams on the slides are very painful when you roll down :( Also, you can't buy food there, because you're not a hotel guest.
A lot of soft sun beds with umbrellas, the steps to the slides are not slippery, there are many towns for small children and older, entertainment for the whole family:)
We were satisfied with the water park, the prices are acceptable :)))
