Mayfield Motel in Newcastle

Worst place I've ever stayed i want to leave. Pool closed, the rooms are dirty smell like ckgarette smoke. Windows are broken cant open them. Air-conditioning is dusty and mouldy and they sprayed toxic air freshener to cover the smell. Im considering getting a refund and sleeping in my car with my kids. I've stayed in plenty of dives this place takes the cake. For $150 im furious.

Edit. I did end up leaving and had to pay a cleaning fee for mess my toddler made. The Indian man working was very helpful and did try and address my concerns and was very helpful but it doesnt change the fact that its not suitable for families. This is for hard up linked to housing types, and should be used for that only.

Had to follow up via phone numerous times to be able to pay early and to then know what the key code was as we would be checking in late that night.

The room was literally shocking when we walked in. Big holes in the walls, generally untidy, missing floor tiles in the bathroom, general state of disrepair. Honestly, it is by far the worst motel experience I have ever had, and I have stayed in numerous ones across the country.

My stay at this motel was, without exaggeration, one of the most unacceptable accommodation experiences I have encountered. The property is in an advanced state of disrepair, suggesting years of neglect rather than a temporary lapse in maintenance. Fixtures, furnishings, and common areas all reflect a complete disregard for basic standards of hospitality.
Most alarming was the presence of bed bugs throughout the beds. This is not a minor inconvenience but a serious health and sanitation failure that should immediately disqualify the establishment from operating. The infestation made the room uninhabitable and demonstrated a profound lack of cleanliness and pest control.
The environment was relentlessly noisy at all hours, eliminating any possibility of rest. Walls offered no sound insulation, and disturbances from surrounding rooms and outside activity persisted throughout the night. Any expectation of comfort or sleep was entirely unrealistic.
The swimming pool was equally appalling. The water was visibly filthy, with stagnant debris and discoloration indicating it had not been cleaned or maintained for months. Its condition was not only unsanitary but also a clear safety concern.
In conclusion, this motel fails on every fundamental level: cleanliness, maintenance, comfort, and guest safety. It should not be marketed as accommodation in its current condition. I strongly discourage anyone from staying here unless they are prepared for extreme discomfort and unacceptable hygiene standards.
