Best Western Colonial Palms Motor Inn in Airlie Beach

I booked this hotel because it looked good in the photos, but in reality it doesn’t look like the pictures at all. Upon arrival, I was given a room that was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. I had to go down to reception, show them photos, and only then they gave me another room.

The new room still didn’t look like the photos: everything was rusty and worn, with dirt that could easily be fixed with proper cleaning. Overall, it felt more like a roadside motel than a proper hotel.

We paid for a breakfast included, but it literally consisted of toast with beans, and if you wanted coffee, you had to pay extra. Some days we even preferred to go out to a restaurant for breakfast because the hotel breakfast was so bad.

Additionally, they only clean rooms every three days for “ecological reasons”. I understand not changing towels every day, but cleaning a room only every three days is unacceptable.

In short, too expensive for what it offers, poor cleanliness, terrible breakfast, and mediocre service. I do not recommend this hotel.

Terrible experience — avoid this hotel.
We stayed 3 nights and the staff’s attitude was shocking. When our room became available, we asked reception to place our bags inside because we were short on time — they refused. Breakfast was a joke: only sandwich bread, some fruit, and instant coffee (real coffee wasn’t included). Our room was never cleaned because “they only clean every 3 days,” and even after finding cockroaches they only removed them without actually cleaning. Reception also refused to give us coins for the laundry because they had “already closed” — at 19:15. One rainy evening both the bar and reception were closed at 20:00 and the staff literally waved us away.
Absolutely zero willingness to help, rude staff, and terrible service. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the very first day, the treatment we received from the staff was terrible. We needed help with our luggage — we were clearly struggling — and no one even offered to assist us. We also needed coins for the laundry, and the staff repeatedly refused to provide them until we became visibly upset.

We found a cockroach in our room, and when we went to reception to report it, the employees inside simply waved their hands saying “closed” and wouldn’t even let us in. We then called the phone number listed on Booking.com, and when we asked to speak to the manager, they laughed at us.

They do not clean the rooms for three days, and the breakfast is extremely basic. It doesn’t include proper coffee — only instant coffee with cold milk. The cleanliness of the room was practically nonexistent.

We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
