Very well situated for where we wanted to go to the musical at the Royal international convention centre..

Responsive host. The hostel is very old and has no elevator. The room assigned to us were at the attic and spacious. However, the lock is not reliable. It can be opened easily. No complimentary bottled water in the room as well. For budget traveller, it is okay. If you have heavy luggages, not recommended as it has no lift.

Firstly i must say, the ladies at reception were absolutely beautiful, so friendly and so welcoming. But…. This hotel was disgusting. I paid $90 for a 1 night stay, so I defiantly didn’t expect anything luxurious. But to walk into my room that was “supposedly” just cleaned (I was told I couldn’t check in earlier than 2 as they were still cleaning the rooms) to find the walls and floors stained with god knows what. To find dirty cigarettes buts in the room, fluids of who knows what sort dripping down the walls, mould on the mirror above the sink in our room, the outside section being covered in cob webs, dead bugs squished into the floor INSIDE the room and OUTSIDE in the hallway area was absolutely appalling. I have woken up after sleeping in there bed with rashes all up my arms and bites all over my body. And this is all just the room, this isn’t including the communal toilets and showers. The communal toilets reeked of piss, there sanitary bins were not sanitary at all. There showers had black mould all throughout them, and they couldn’t even provide shampoo and conditioner. This was not a hotel that should have cost me $90. Sleeping in a park would have been cleaner. This is not an over exaggeration. I came from Melbourne to Brisbane for 1 night and wanted to find the cheapest accomodation. To say the least I wish I spent more on a hotel that was actually CLEAN. And again, completely understanding that this wasn’t a 5 star hotel, but to walk into a room that was “just” cleaned by cleaners and to see and find all the things I did was horrible. I have never felt so dirty staying somewhere before. I will be making further contact and asking for a refund.

The room was a bit old. Initially, the toilet and shower were shared, but the curtain was broken. I informed the hotel master, and they kindly moved me to a room with a private toilet and shower.

Dirty room.Next to shared bathroom with awful lock, noisy and awkward. Desperately in need of a good revamp.Handed my keys into reception and not a word from the guy running it.I know it's cheap but spend $10 more and it will be worth it.

It’s difficult to find a personel for help after check in. I could not find a box of tissue in the room. It was not aware that my room did not have Aircond which made me very uneasy under the hot weather. Besides, there were small flies entering the room as I had no alternative but to open the balcony window under such hot weather!

We had a horrible experience. Someone was knocking on our door all night. The doors don’t have a peep hole so you can’t see who is outside. They also don’t double-lock. We called the after-hours reception to ask them to check who was outside or resolve the problem and the lady we spoke to was rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Worst sleep ever. We were so terrified. Definitely won’t be coming back here.

Lovely clean old Queensland building in a great location,
With a relaxed atmosphere , sit out on the front porch and watch the city start to wake up.
Will definitely be staying again.

Pleasantly surprised by this spacious comfortable room. Will stay here again when coming to Brisbane.

I've stayed here a few times before as it's reasonably convenient to get into the CBD and fairly well priced. The double room was a fair size, cleaner than the other rooms I've stayed in everything worked.

This review is about one of the Companies that were selling beds and mattresses at the 2017 Ekka. Save-a-lot beds. I paid in full for a mattress with an approximate delivery time of 8 weeks. It will be 16 weeks on the 11/8/2017. I have since done a search on this company and it appears that there are a lot of other purchasers with the same complaint. I know that the Ekka has no control over the vendors, but I would strongly recommend that this company is not allowed back in future.

Fun, bargains to buy, yummy food...some even free!! $2 cheese toasties are a family favourite!
01.09.2017 Moone
Loved the Ekka as a kid, it took a dive for a few years, but now it's back, better than ever. Attractions for all ages and a train trip straight to the gate.
18.08.2017 PP
First time to Ekka, generally is very clean and organise but foods and drinks are very expensive, small bottle of water $4 each (some kios $5). I have tried a cone of coffee, $8.50! A day pass fee for adult $55. I was looking forward for the show but I'm disappointed. It would be my first and last time at Ekka.
16.08.2017 mikk
Entertaining and worth the price of admission. The night show is not to be missed! While the showgrounds have significantly shrunk in size, and the number of things has reduced, there is nothing like it, so don't miss it. It may be different from your childhood memories but it's still a great day out, just in a different form. Go while you can and enjoy the entertainment and experience of the country coming to the city.
