Reviews
The breakfast buffet is the best I've ever had at a hotel. All you can eat, a variety of dishes with excellent service. Staff takes your dishes right when your done but you never see them take the dishes. You look away, look back and theyre gone!
Rooms are pretty good, sheets cleaned daily. Spacious rooms with nice bathrooms.
Each floor has a mini lobby with complementary cold spring water cooler and glasses.
However. The front desk staff is often rude but security is nice (strange), clothing services are very slow and 2.50 usd or 8 byr FOR ONE PAIR OF CLOTHES!
Location is amazing right next door to a telecom, central bus stop, restaurants, and a grocery (all within a 3 min walk)
Good window view next to the river and victory park. GUM is only a few minutes away on a straight bus line.
(Video is of window view)
- Cleaning lady comes to the room as many times how she wants. Nothing bad, but any procedures as checking phones/tv or inventory have to do before check in time or after check out. :)
First the good points:
+ There is always someone at the reception who speaks English
+ The hotel rooms are clean, even though they look like the last renovation may have been in the last century
+ Location you are very close to Minsk city center
+ price, it's a cheap privat room
+ the little Café in the front is good
Now to the bad points:
-The rooms have an AC installed, but the AC has no cooling power and acts only as a ventilator. Prepare to sweat a lot in the summer
-In the winter the heating was not working properly either, so bring some extra pullovers and big socks
-the WiFi is very slow, streaming videos in better quality than 360p is impossible. For Zoom meetings with video, the connection is too bad aswell
-the breakfast: I would avoid it, for the same money you can get way better food in Minsk, but if you like canned food and being blasted by Belarusian TV in the morning go for it
-the elevators, they make dangerous noises and are super slow
-you are next to the biggest boulevard in Minsk, prepare for noise, in the summer you must sleep with the window open, otherwise it gets too hot
For me Yubileiny Hotel is 100 % retro, 100% Soviet architecture internal environment style and I like it, I really like it!
It’s solid, It’s wood, it’s stone, it’s concrete and wall to wall carpets and it’s well kept and no scratches. For example the table in wood in my room with the carved hotel logotype, covered with glass - for me its wonderful and without scratches -
The elevators from the Finnish company KONE, delivered 1983 and still in good shape, last time I saw this elevators was 2014 at Cosmos Hotel Chisinau.
This hotel is so retro so I wondered for myself if the rooms could be wired - but I smiled for myself because yesterday has passed.
I lived at Yubileiny Hotel exactly ten years ago and nothing had really happened, external/internal with some exceptions, and this is the reason Yubileiny hotel attract that category of tourists as I belong to.
The room wasn't large, but it’s well cleaned, WiFi works well and ladies who clean even delivered me hot water for my proteindrinks and coffee. Breakfast was okey, I get what I wanted, but the coffee could be better.
I smalltalked with a middle age woman who work in the Reception. I told her about my impressions of Minsk – so she told me that you must come back next year. I realized that she liked my way of answer; - it’s more possible, then impossible!
For me, as a jogger, this hotel is perfect; - out of the main exit, cross the avenue and start jogging along the river on perfect joggingtracks, cross the river their you like and return on the opposite side. Then cross the river again and back to the shower at he hotel – can’t be better.
Yubileiny hotel could increased/boost their value for the guest if they could borrow bikes from the hotel, it’s common in a lots of hotel I use in western Europe. Minsk is flat city and biking is not a problem in Minsk.
The location is perfect, close to main attraction – restaurants, the opera, museum and more – you choose.
In one way I get disappointed, the day I arrived the restaurant was reserved for wedding, so they couldn't offer me dinner – I really get surprised that they couldn't solve that problem in the casino, bar or somewhere else.
The nearby restaurants had probably excellent food, but their staff had huge lack of knowledge in English, otherwise I tried their service.
