A Gem in the Heart of Bruges: A Review of Hotel Van Eyck
My stay at Hotel Van Eyck was an absolute delight, and I cannot recommend this charming hotel highly enough! It truly captures the enchanting spirit of Bruges, offering an experience that is both authentic and comfortable.

The location is simply unparalleled. Tucked away on a quiet street yet just a few steps from the bustling Market Square and the majestic Belfry, you are perfectly positioned to explore every inch of this magical city. To be able to wake up and step out right into the historical center is a priceless advantage.

What really sets Hotel Van Eyck apart is the exceptional service and charming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. Their helpful recommendations for local sights and dining spots enriched my visit tremendously. It truly feels less like a hotel and more like a cozy, historic home, thanks to the warmth of the hosts.

Furthermore, the rooms are spotlessly clean and wonderfully comfortable. Housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century building with delightful character, the ambiance is inviting and relaxing.

For anyone seeking a quintessential Bruges experience—one defined by prime location, warm hospitality, and historic charm—Hotel Van Eyck is the perfect choice. It's a true gem that made my trip unforgettable!

Very cute hotel for a short stay, not expensive out of season (we were there at the end of January).
The room was comfortable and as shown in the picture (via Booking), bed was really comfortable and clean (like the rest of the room).
Very small bathroom but functional.
Quite kitsch decorations but that's what we liked about it ! ;)
We recommend !

Great hotel. Stayed here 2 days in August. Staff is really nice and helpful. It is a small hotel so don't expect the same amenities as in a large chain hotel.

Breakfast is good. 14€ for a buffet including cold meats, boiled eggs, pastries, fruit and hot drinks.

You can leave your luggage if you arrive early or after checkout.

Location is the best feature. Close to all touristy attractions and next to a supermarket.

It doesn't have A/C but they provide a fan for summer. Our room had a nice view of the tower. So lovely waking up seeing it or listening to the bells.

As it is an old building there is no lift. Rooms are in the 1st and 2nd floor.

Family run hotel. My daughter got sick upon Arrival and the owner had some left over medication that they loaned us on a Sunday. Breakfast was wonderful, even got a banana out of the back for us. They had a lot of great recommendations and always said hi when we saw them on the street.

The rooms are ok. Beds were really comfortable. Curtains needed some violence to close when the sun beats down on the face of the building. The bathroom fixtures were nice, a tile floor would have been appreciated.. The building is old, so the noises that come with that are very much present.rj

Amazing location close to the center and the train station, excellent breakfast in a wonderful cozy room and nice view on the Belfort from the bedroom. We really appreciated the hotel with its old stairs, ideal for 4 days. The place was calm, perfectly clean and well furnished/decorated !
Room n°1 on the first floor is small but we knew it and the price was in accordance with services provided. No fridge, no tea or coffee spot but you do have hair dryer and TV in the room. The only issue was the uncomfortable bed, but it's probably due to personal preferences.
Thanks for your kindness and availability,
All the best from Paris,
Juliette & Samuel

The Hotel itself if fine. Definitely do not suggest to be in 1 room with a family. And because of the European Heat Waves, no AC is really painful. Along with no refrigerator, food is something you shouldn't bring into a room if you plan on eating it later. The beds are fine, and the asthenosphere and aesthetic are nice, and it has a nice view to the main plaza of Brugges. Overall it's nice, bit you shouldn't expect a lot from this little hotel.

Lovely little hotel, very close to the centre, nice staff & rooms too. Only thing is it's built in a very old building and there is no lift, so it's not the right place for people with disabilities that require the use of a wheelchair.

It was ok for what we needed, a place to rest our heads.

Negatives:
1) there are no rooms on the ground floor nor a lift so not good for disabled people.
2) the stairs are spiral so you have to be a bit careful.
3) No kettle or teabags/coffee etc in the room.
4) the bathrooms are a bit on the small side. Fine for us but if you need more room then it isn't ideal.

Positives:
1) fantastic location, 2 minutes walk from the market square and the Belfry Tower
2) you can get breakfast for €7 pp extra. Although not ideal, the price is actually a lot more reasonable then other restaurants that charge €4 for a pot of tea...
3) the buffet is a continental buffet style. Handy if you have an early morning excursion.
4) there is a supermarket nearby so that is really handy too.
5) the shower itself is fairly large so that is helpful.

It is only a 2* hotel so don't expect a lot from it. It was useful for what we needed... Brugge on a budget!

A very nice and charming hotel, we stayed there many times as it’s perfectly located in the center to explore Bruges and the hosts are always kind and helpful. The rooms were pretty and equipped with everything we needed, the breakfast was also really good for its price. It’s a small family run hotel in an old building which adds to its charisma and ambiance. Highly recommended!
