The Place Hostel & Rooftop Bar in Battambang

We stayed there for one night in March 2026. We booked room B (the blue room) because we wanted a private room. Check-in was quick, and the receptionist was very friendly. She took the time to explain how the hostel worked and also gave us some sightseeing suggestions. The room itself was very spacious, the Wi-Fi and air conditioning worked perfectly, and the bathroom was adequate. There was also a small balcony, but no view. The room was clean, and the bed was fine, although the mattress seemed a bit old. The hostel has a rooftop restaurant and bar with a good selection of delicious meals. Drinks and food are very affordable, except for breakfast, which is a bit pricey. It's a perfect place for backpackers.

Had a great experience with this hostel! I stayed in a single room and loved it and wanted to spend my last 2 nights in the single as well. Unfortunately, it was already booked. However, someone at the front desk was able to get me the same room because someone had canceled! What luck! I'm so glad he was able to help me out. My only issue was that there was no onsite laundry and I had to walk around the corner to another hostel. Not super inconvenient, but at least there was somewhere I could wash my clothes. Would stay here again!

Had an amazing stay at The Place Hostel! Met some really great people, and the vibe was super friendly. If you’re Solo-traveling, this is where you want to be! The night receptionist is awesome—super cool and always up for a chat. Clean rooms, nice showers, perfect location, and a chill rooftop to eat or have a drink. Definitely recommend!

I had a fantastic stay at THE PLACE Hostel. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the city. A free shuttle is provided from the bus/train station to the hostel. The dorm beds were comfortable and had privacy curtains, which made for a good night’s sleep, and the air conditioning worked great (turned off during the day but fans are available to keep you cool). The rooftop area was lovely — perfect for relaxing and meeting other travellers. The food was decent and reasonably priced, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. An afternoon-evening tour was offered on my first day for $6 (not including entrance fees, allowing certain activities to be skipped), which I found to be excellent value for money. Water bottles can be refilled for 1000 riel per litre, which all goes to the staff. The only downside is that the toilet on my floor was out of service during my stay, so everyone in the building had to share just 3 toilets, but I didn't find this to be a problem. Overall, a great experience at a fantastic price. Thank you :)

Overall my stay was ok. I was staying in the 5 bed dorm in bed no.5 which hardly had any privacy. There are stairs through the bed although they don't come in the way. The shower had barely warm water but no hot water.

Great staff at a chilled hostel! Neth Daly ,Tim ,Nav ,Tha,Lyna,Ma,Rothana made us feel like one big family on Christmas Eve. Kind, friendly people. Chet, the tuktuk tour guide, was great too and gave us an exciting afternoon out. Also enjoyed Taco Tuesdays! Thank you !

We loved our stay at The Place - it’s in a great location, we had a private room which was so nice (wish we could have stayed longer to keep enjoying the sun on the balcony) and the rooftop was such a nice place to hang out. Everyone that worked there was fantastic too, so helpful and friendly. We arrived late on our first day and were worried we’d missed all the tours but reception helped us organise one with Ket who was amazing.
