Econo Lodge Inn & Suites in North Vancouver

This is one of my "what you see is what you get" reviews
If this is a quick overnight stay, it is basically satisfactory.
Ours was a 4 day stay and the quality was uneven at best.
I will start with the positives. Excellent location for our needs. This of course will vary from person to person depending on their length of stay and needs.

I do wish I could have enjoyed tge courtyard more, but the weather and winter would not allow.

The other plus was the staff. Each person I dealt with was friendly and accommodating.
But then there's the negatives. I was aware that there was an "as needed" requirement four changing sheets. I understand this as a new reality in the industry
I was not at all aware that this included also included requesting literally every other service. Need toilet paper? Better ask ahead , not after you suddenly run out. Oh, those towels that need replacing or garbage to be binned? Better ask. At least here, basic services that you find elsewhere (at least in our experience)are not included. When I asked for an explanation I was at least politely told with little concern that "we signed for it" in the first place. Lesson learned that will not be repeated.
The room quality was fair. Clean upon entry yes, but make sure you ask ahead for tidying , wiping wash counters down and such the like. I suppose service only goes so far.
The washroom was tiny, and aging. The sink is in a separate room, and something I do not like.
Finally the free breakfast. Not pleasant at all. Staff do the best they can and have a difficult task with not the best of customers in a tiny and crowded area. The breakfast are looks nice when empty, but be prepared for a morning shock. I hope you like coffee mate.

We also assumed a far better quality of food, too. Nothing fresh or inviting. Part of the problem may well be that this place caters to predominantly one night visitors with larger groups who don't mind weak cleaning standards and substandard food. I really do mean substandard food.
None of this is directly the fault of staff. They have a lot to deal with and my hat goes off to them and is the only reason I gave a 3 rating even with the poor room service.

My warnining? Read the fine print.

After driving for most of the day, checked in kicked off my shoes and unwound in the room. Within an few hours of normal moving in the room, my white socks were very dirty(almost black) from the floors (wood flooring). With the floors that dirty makes me wonder about the rest of the areas that you can't see or don't think about. If you can get over that not a bad place to stay and convenient for driving onto the highway.
