Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville

I recently stayed at Deerhurst Resort and unfortunately, my experience was quite average and did not meet my expectations, especially considering the price and the resort’s reputation.
The rooms were very basic compared to other 4-star or 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at. There were no standard amenities such as bathroom slippers, bathrobes, bottled water, or even a kettle to boil water. For a resort of this level, these small comforts are usually expected and would have made the stay more pleasant.
Breakfast was advertised as “included,” but it actually came with a limited credit . This was not clearly explained beforehand. Many menu items exceeded this amount, so we still had to pay extra out of pocket. It felt misleading since we expected a proper included breakfast without restrictions.
The biggest disappointment was the winter activities. Check-in was around 4 PM, but the equipment/activity center closed at 5 PM. This left almost no time to participate in any activities on the first day. We planned to try them the next morning, but some activities were not available on Mondays. Unfortunately, none of this information was communicated to us in advance. Better orientation or scheduling information would have helped us plan our stay.
Overall, we were not properly informed about amenities, activity timings, extra charges, or how the breakfast credit system worked. For a stay costing around $350, we expected better service, clearer communication, and more value.
The location is beautiful, but the experience and service did not justify the price. With some improvements in amenities and guest communication, this resort could offer a much better stay.
