InterContinental Hotels HAIKOU SEAVIEW by IHG in Haikou

Overall our stay at Intercontinental Haikou was ok. The lounge service was very good and polite. The pools were great.

However! We got first a room on the 10th floor (1006) which had a strong musty smell (see also photo attached) also you could smell and see from the room and corridors that the room/floor was not in the best shape. It has often happened for us with the hotels in China, however with the chain as InterContinental it should not be possible.

In the evening we complained about the room smell to the reception and they immediately changed the room to 9th floor which was in much better condition and not smelly. So I'm not sure if the musty room was given to us us as we were foreigners, but please be aware the rooms at least on the 10th floor are not smelling fresh and should not be given to anyone, the hotel management should make a quick renovation and review for these.

Everything else in the property was with no complaints. The pool area was great. Fantastic view from the balcony. The service worked very well and was polite.

📍 Prime Location
The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Haikou Bay, directly opposite Century Bridge. It boasts unparalleled sea views and stunning city nightscapes! Whether day or night, the views from the window are breathtaking, and you simply can't stop taking photos! 📸 It's also very close to popular attractions like Qilou Old Street and Evergreen Park, making getting around incredibly convenient.

🏨 Impeccable Room Comfort
We stayed in an Executive Deluxe Seaview Room. The room was incredibly spacious with a modern and elegant design. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered direct views of Haikou Bay, making watching the sunrise and sunset from bed an incredibly romantic experience! The bedding was soft and comfortable, and amenities were comprehensive. High-quality provisions included a Dyson hairdryer and TOTO bathroom fixtures. Every detail reflected their commitment to quality.

🍴 Exceptional Culinary Experience
Breakfast offered an incredibly rich selection, from Chinese dim sum to Western pastries. I highly recommend the local specialties, Hainan noodles and Qingbuliang dessert! The hotel's Chinese restaurant and seafood buffet are also worth trying; the ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are excellent, offering great value for money.

🏊♂️ Fantastic Facilities & Instagrammable Views
The infinity pool directly faces the ocean, making it incredibly picturesque for photos! The gym is well-equipped, and the spa center is very comfortable, ideal for a relaxing vacation. The hotel's internal garden design has a wonderful tropical flair, making strolls incredibly pleasant. 🌈 The Haikou Huacai InterContinental is definitely a hotel worth revisiting multiple times!

The hotel boasts a fantastic setting, conveniently located within walking distance to both the beach and a shopping mall, making it ideal for dining, shopping, and leisurely walks. The room layout was practical and well-designed. Although the swimming pool and hot spring aren't huge, they were never crowded. The evening views were particularly captivating, especially with cruise ships occasionally passing by, which the children absolutely loved. Evelyn, the duty manager, was incredibly warm and attentive. She provided a very detailed introduction to all the hotel's services. Despite it being our first stay, we felt a genuine sense of warmth and comfort, just like being at home. The only minor inconvenience was due to scheduled power maintenance. After a power cut at night, the TV automatically turned on to the home screen, and its bright display significantly disrupted our sleep. All four pillows provided were identical in softness and height. We'd suggest offering a wider variety of pillow firmnesses and heights in the future, as more choices would undoubtedly enhance guest comfort and convenience.

InterContinental Haikou: A fantastic choice for a beachfront stay in Haikou!

The service at InterContinental was truly exceptional, especially from Jenny Wu. She connected with me on WeChat before my trip, informing me that a birthday setup had been arranged and even provided a small cake, which absolutely perfected the celebratory mood.

The Sky Bar on the 11th floor boasts unbeatable ocean views. Sipping a cocktail there in the evening was incredibly relaxing and delightful!

The complimentary photoshoot was also quite good – it was completed in just half an hour, very efficient.

This is my third time staying here, and let me tell you, it just keeps getting better! Everything was absolutely perfect, from Evelyn’s warm welcome at reception to the delightful lady who made my room sparkle. But the highlight? The breathtaking view—it's simply unbeatable!

Room Facilities: Our suite featured one bedroom and a separate living area. The view was great, and sipping tea while enjoying the breeze on the balcony was incredibly relaxing.

Cleanliness: Towels were promptly replaced whenever requested, and extension cords and latex pillows were delivered quickly upon need.

Location & Ambiance: This has become my go-to hotel whenever I'm in Haikou for sightseeing and dining; I'm quite accustomed to it. Its convenient location means everything is easily accessible. Enjoying coffee at Datang, dining at the buffet, and taking in the panoramic views from the rooftop bar are all fantastic options.

Hotel Activities: The Bamboo Dance activity was a lot of fun! We stumbled upon it right after dinner. I tried it, and it's quite challenging, though others made it look so effortless. It's definitely an entertaining activity that kids would love.

Dining & Drinks: A sunset cocktail at Qia Restaurant's Sky Bar was perfect for enjoying the views and good conversation. The buffet, around 160 RMB after a 50% discount, offered a great variety. My family had a wonderful dinner there, and the service was excellent. We also received three complimentary lobby drinks (we chose coffee, juice, and tea), and the service from the staff was great.

Room Allocation: This time, we were assigned a room on the 12th floor, which was a nice change from our previous stays on the 3rd or 6th. The higher floor definitely offered a much better view.

Fantastic hotel. Comfy bed, nice bathroom and toulet with bidet, and a small kitchen with a large fridge. Staff are friendly. Breakfast option is great. View from the balcony is stunning. Highly recommended

Location was a little inconvenient as it is separated from the main haikou island by a bridge. There is a large mall nearby but most of the stuff there are over-priced. Facilities and amenities are excellent, especially their breakfast. I was using the gym and there was someone who kept sniffling while using the gym. The guy was clearly unwell as he had tissue on the machine as well yet no one bothered. There was a sign in the gym saying no food and drinks allowed but someone brought up a can drink and even opened it up to drink? I wonder why they even bothered putting a staff there for. Staff a little unfriendly. I was walking in front of two westerners, and their staff did not greet me when i walked pass him but instead greeted the westerners behind me upon seeing them. Throughout our stay most staff basically just walked past us without a nod or saying anything, like as if we were invisible. Although they said no smoking, when I entered one of the lifts, it stank of cigarette smell.

Amazing service! Reception always tries to go out of the way to assist us. Loved our room; great sea views. Although there was not much around the vicinity, we could easily didi everywhere. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
