BEDBUG WARNING! Seriously, stay away! I was put into "Germany" hostel after booking for another one. Apart from the bedbugs, it is infested with people and every single one of these has a heavy story to tell - that is actually the only good thing. One of the worst hellholes in Chunking Mansions, worse than a crackhouse. DO NOT BOOK FOR THE "DAY HOSTEL". The bedbug bites just covers my limbs and neck... This place only deserves being burned to the ground. It is basically only one little step ahead of living homeless on the street. It is right next to an unlicensed bar, the door are on a code and everyone knows it, so literally every individuum can come right from another similar crackhouse to browse through your things. Really authentic experience of Victorian slum, in this part very educational. But if you are looking for something nice and cheap, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HELL!

The rating is low but actually is similar to what you find in some other bunk bed dorms hostels inside old mansions but price of this one is lower because it's inside Chungking Mansion (many hostels lead to a competitive price, you pay what you get).
Budget travellers who travel and book at last minute might usually end up in hostels like this or even expensive ones in other Mansions in Wan Chai (with roaches and mattress on the floor but charge even higher price with extra charges on many things).
Now, there are many new style internet cafe open and many budget travelers choose to stay there. These 24-hour internet cafe offer big lockers, shower facilities, washing machines, food services, fast internet access, usb chargers, comfortable seats and flexible staying hours. Budget travelers may consider these internet cafe if the hostel is fully booked or if you don't want to stay at this kind of hostel. Of Course, you can still choose to stay at 24 hour McDonald nearby.

two strange people at the reception, no hospitality spirit and friendly attitude. only 1 Indian lady at the reception helped me and shared a little info. also 1 room maid (Chinese) who was very kind offering towels and cleaning the room, she was very kind and smiled a lot.

In center of town near all amenities everything you need for a short stay shower microwave hot water , air con and a fan place is well secure.reception was good . good WiFi

Expectation/Reality: space is small but has all you need to sleep. For one night. Bring your own towel.
Security: good, there is a safe in the room.
Hygiene: good enough, no complaints.
Hospitality: check in was smooth and operated 24/7
Social Atmosphere: none really, the space is too small
Overall: good for the price and if you just need a place to stay to see the sights.

Germany Hostel is on the six floor, but reception is on the tenth floor so you gotta go tenth floor first to check in. And in the room, there is no toilet paper and towel so take them at the reception.
And way of going up there is also difficult cuz Chungking mansion has many elevators. Just follow the sign for elevator D.

Cheap and cheerful stay. They kindly upgraded me to a bigger room. It’s clean and small like all the other guesthouses in the area. Expect lots of dodgy Indians trying to sell you stuff at the entrance.

Great food, excellent & Super fast service, good ambience, decent music gelling with ambience.. The desert taste & presentation was really impressive!
What particularly impressed me, was that the manager, who saw us viewing the menu, noticing that am Indian, might have a possibility of being vegetarian, and so promptly suggested about the vegetarian options as well.
All in all, I had a great experience & would certainly return.

Service, for the most part, was great. The manager and our server were lovely. The food is a bit average though, unfortunately. The Parma pizza was constructed very oddly so the rocket was all in a pile in the middle under the ham so it was quite soggy and difficult to cut/eat. Seemed like a bit too many ingredients for the base. The cannelloni was not really well-seasoned and kind of bland. All you could taste was the wine really.

We enjoyed ourself immensely. The food was excellent, service was first class. Gazi, the manager, was a very charming man who was very hospitable. We will come here every time we come to hongkong.

Seems like a nice place at first, but then:
You have to wait for seats.
The order takes a while to get to the table. Water is dripping from the ceiling onto you or your plate.
The beef (dish n.1) is plastic like.
The dish n.2 is called spicy but none of us were able to eat it, and the noodles were cold (yes the dish is supposed to be cold, but it was freezing), and they refused to warm it up a little.
So you pay 80$HK for a dish were you can only eat the dumplings (which were good and warm by the way).
Very disappointed by the food, and even more by how the employees reacted (they just laughed at us because we couldn't eat the entire plate).

What you display on ur menu(pictures) is NOT what u serve at all and ur side vegetables are a fraction of the size as it shows in the picture

Long waiting time during lunch. When I go inside the smell like a stink bomb here, noodles taste is worse than 5 years ago as well as the service, a bit disappointed ?

The tomato soup based udon was not rich, but still ok. I would prefer going to some other udon places to get the tomato soup based udon. The beef appetizer is pretty good on the other hand. Love their idea of putting a pig head fish cake to the udon to add some cuteness lol

Hot udon is good, but used to be better before. Soup is tasty though a bit oily. Snacks are just of normal standard.
