Without doubt, a very nice hostel, but it doesn't live up to its reputation of being the best.
Rooms are spacious (at least some of them), and always clean. On top of that, VPN enabled wifi is available for each room separately.
The staff is friendly, but for more complex questions you'll probably not receive a accurate answer. In addition, the map provided, seemed to have a few flaws, which can really set you off in the wrong direction.
The food, especially that served from the La Dolce Vita, is fantastic.
A small note to not-smokers: in the common areas there is a slight smoke stench, that makes staying less pleasant.

The room is clean and spacious for 2. Mattress fitting with heating pad, a plus for winter weather. Location is walking distance to Dali Ancient city's Red LongJin gate. Wish there was cup/mug available inside the room.
Also, the original site with English signboard is under renovation. Need to turn right to the next block where the hostel is now located (but without English signage). Hope the owner can do something about it and update the new location in the local map for Didi e-hailing.

it was under renovation, but they have another location close by! The auntie and uncle were very kind to me and recommended a lot of different places to go!

I think we got upgraded to a family room but we definitely didn't mind the extra space including a couch and table. They had a waterboiler and cups and comfortable beds with extra blankets, however the remote for the AC was missing and it got pretty chilly at night. Did not make that big of a difference anyway since the AC was located outside the bedroom.
Small notice for foreign guests: It was very hard finding the place since the map didn't show the exact location and doorsigns we in chinese/ didn't match the description on trip.

Great place! Nice owners, good facilities and fun to stay at. A bit outside the ancient city but it’s a short walk and one of the best VFM I’ve had in China.

The usual hostel is undergoing renovations at the moment, so the actual accommodation is around the corner. I was quite lost until I texted the 'late entrance' phone number by chance and the owners father found me.
There is no bar, pool table or restaurant currently accessible but I'm sure it will be great when it reopens.
The room was lovely but very cold with a big gap under the door and a hole the size of a postcard in the bathroom. I think a more updated profile to reflect current amenities would be beneficial.

The staff are very helpful. They are very enthusiastic when they tried to help me rent a bike and call a taxi in early morning. The hotel is right opposite the old town, very convenient. I should recommend everyone this place if they want to stay near the old town.

Hostel is located opposite the main road after our from the ancient Dali gate, so is very convenient to enter Dali street by foot. Room are well manage by elderly friendly couple. Comfortable bed with classic design surrounding with book shelf.
Hope their business continues growth and provide affordable stay for solo traveller. My window can view the Cangshan mountain.
