Great hotel, very cool space.

This is such a unique hotel, blending old-time charm with modern conveniences. I love its location, being just a 5 mins. walk to the old town pedestrian street and less than a 10 mins. DiDi ride to Longkan Wharf at the Erhai Lake area.

The hotel also provides a free electric scooter for exploring the nearby area (easily covers around 50 km). I had some laundry to do, and the hotel has a lovely rooftop space where I could wash my clothes. There’s no dryer, but the dry autumn weather meant everything air-dried quickly. There’s also a reading zone—a small library-like space—which I made full use of while waiting for the wash cycle to finish.

The room has a charming retro vibe, and I absolutely loved the décor. The comfortable leather armchair in the corner created a cosy little nook for me to relax with my drinks and snacks.

The bathtub was a real treat—a long soak in hot water was the perfect way to relax and warm up on a cold night. I slept like a baby afterwards.

We stayed two nights and received a free electric bike. This was the reason we stayed. The electric bikes were incredibly useful and free of charge, eliminating the need for a separate rental. It was fantastic!

Check-in is at 8 PM. Opening the wooden door of the Old Story Inn is like stepping into the slow pace of Dali. A surprising sense of warmth hides amidst the whitewashed tiles. The friendly and attentive front desk staff will assist with luggage. The rooms are simple yet charming, with solid wood furniture exuding a rustic warmth and bedding as soft as the clouds at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. The abundant hot water makes it easy for multiple guests, and even the details are thoughtfully considered: the wooden combs exude a natural scent, the subtle fragrance of the shower gel is subtle, and even the laundry detergent is thoughtfully sorted. In the evening, I ride my eMule through the alleys, and the breeze carries the scent of freedom. The next day, the sun filters through the greenery, and I hold a cup of hand-poured Yunnan small-grain coffee, its rich aroma permeating the air. The inn is just steps from the ancient city's south gate, yet boasts a unique tranquility. The rooftop pavilion overlooks Cangshan Mountain, offering breathtaking views of the rolling clouds. The glass-enclosed study on the third floor is filled with the fragrance of books, perfect for whileing away a leisurely half-day with a book. Most captivating is the human touch here—the owner's smile is as refreshing as the Erhai Lake breeze, and the front desk attendant patiently answers every question about "where to go." They make the inn more than just a place to rest; it becomes a home away from home. If you're searching for a place that combines the charm of everyday life with a sense of peace and tranquility, this old story is worth a stop.

The location is close to the ancient city and the bus station, and the environment and sanitation are also acceptable. However, the pillow is too high, so I recommend changing it.

The price-performance ratio couldn't be higher, and the bed was very comfortable! It's about a 5-6 minute walk from the ancient city. The bathroom is average, but for the price, it's really unbeatable. There are mosquito coils to repel mosquitoes, and the sheets and quilts feel just like my own at home.

The hotel environment is very good, the service is also very good, friends feel good when traveling. The external environment is a little worse, and the roads are narrow when driving in. It is not recommended for novices, but it is still very comfortable if you don't drive. It is very close to the ancient city and very convenient for eating and drinking.
