Hotel Plzeň in Plzen

The hotel is generally fine, but it needs a lot of TLC. A good dose of maintenance and minor repairs would give it a new look. Of course, the photos on *********** are quite misleading. Our room was fine, but it was very dark, with barely any sunlight coming in through the main window. However, the bathroom was separated by a hallway with a large window that let in light at dawn. The door to the room has glass that lets in all that early morning light, enough to wake you up, but not enough to illuminate the room throughout the day. The bathroom urgently needs to fix the screen; it didn't stay put and remained open all the time, leaving the floor soaked when showering. The bathtub had loose slats, and the shower head was completely broken; it wouldn't go up or down, or even stay on; you had to hold it constantly, which was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was average, somewhat hampered by the constant wasps. There's a children's play area where they can entertain themselves after breakfast. There's no elevator. Check-in/out is completely impersonal, done through an app, which, depending on the situation, can be good or bad. We could have avoided going to reception; we did it out of sheer formality, but the welcome was curt and brief, lacking much warmth. Overall, we were quite disappointed with the hotel, especially regarding the maintenance issue; it's a shame they let it deteriorate like this.

Good localization, friendly staff, nice small hotel, but it was not possibile to pay with American Express credit card although such information is in hotel's offer; there is no lift
