Oh, Hotel Slovan in Plzen, where do I even start with this communist-era gem? Stayed one night and it was like stepping into a time machine that smells gloriously of "old times" (in the best possible way). Back in the day, this must've been the crème de la crème of state-approved luxury, and boy, does that genius loci vibe still shine through with its stunning old wood, those majestic columns in the atrium, and an interior architecture that's straight-up gorgeous. The jovial lady at reception was a warm beacon of humanity in what felt like a delightfully haunted ghost hote, bless her for making me feel like royalty. But let's be real (with a wink): everything's charmingly worn out, like it's been through a few revolutions, yet spotlessly clean, no complaints there. The bed? A hilariously tough new mattress, probably forged from steel to outlast any guest's attempts to dent it. Heater going full blast with no knob to tame it and the window has to be shut against the bustling main street. Furniture from a millennium ago? Functional, clean, and full of character. No bar after 9 PM for that nightcap? Pfft, forces you to appreciate the quiet. Breakfast in that cavernous, spacious restaurant was a treat. Scrambled eggs made from actual eggs (no powdered nonsense), though the tables looked like they'd hosted a crumb party with rumpled napkins as guests. And zero waiters in sight for my 30-40 minute feast? Self-service adventure at its finest! Location's unbeatable, the building's a stunner, and for 51 Euros (single with breakfast), it's an absolute steal. A true diamond in the rough, just needs a sprinkle of investment to rule the roost. I love it despite the "hiccups". Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic charm over cookie-cutter perfection!

The hotel is beautiful but it needs better lighting. The breakfast was pretty poor.

We stayed at Hotel Slovan for a weekend trip to Pilsen and were very happy with our choice. The location is excellent, right in the downtown area, making it easy to walk to the main sights of the city has to offer. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and there’s convenient parking right behind the hotel. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a good-sized bathroom with a jacuzzi-style bathtub, which was a pleasant surprise. While the furnishings and overall style are a bit dated, everything was functional and comfortable. The hotel hallway is exceptionally beautiful and gives the place a lot of character. For the very reasonable price we paid, Hotel Slovan offered great value and made our stay in Pilsen enjoyable. An excellent choice for anyone looking for a well-located, affordable accommodation in Pilsen.

I stayed here for a week in July of 2025. The location is really ideal. Right in the center, just steps away from shops and outdoor restaurants.

The interior of the hotel is like going back in time to an old world kind of vibe. Lots of ornate fixtures and original vintage details.

My room looked out over the Pilsen, complete with hourly church bells.

The room was spacious, but a bit dated. It's not a luxurious hotel with all of the modern touches, but it's comfortable and convenient.

They have a breakfast buffet every morning which is adequate to get your day started.

This was probably a magnificent hotel in it's day.
It is now tired and in a sorry condition.
Everything you need is there but the facilities are from the 1970's at best.
Great location and has a car park.

The hotel is in ruins and is infested with large flies. Not a few or dozen, but what appears to be a colony of flies throughout the building. We looked behind the clerk and saw the hotel's room keys were all there except for one. We checked in anyway because we had nowhere to go. Tired from the flight we went straight outside to find dinner but turned around because we forgot something.

When we returned, a strange tall man was messing with our door and then literally ran away when he saw us come from the elevator. No one is in the hotel except for one other man (who we saw and was not this same guy), so who is he? How did he know we were gone so quickly if not informed by the hotel? This was too scary so we decided to leave right away. When we did, the one other guest (not the guy by our door) was arguing with the clerk about why he must cancel his stay immediately! While we were waiting for him to finish with the clerk, another worker was standing there talking to himself and mumbling back and forth, very agitated while walking in circles. He just kept staring at us and mumbling. The flies were everywhere and on everyone.

The clerk did not blink an eye or even ask why when we told her we do not want to stay. Of course, they also refused to refund us. But the hotel was so scary we decided to lose the money and go somewhere else. You have been warned.

Well I give 4 star first of all for the location that is right in the heart of Pilsen and for the kind stuff. The room was big enough for me and here is a small size TV which is ok. The hotel was built in 18 th century I think and with modern style. Everything here and most popular attractions are around this hotel.
