From the moment we arrived, it was dreadful. We got to the hotel just before ten to be told by the man at reception, that he had cancelled our stay because my card came up as “forbidden” when they tried to take payment- despite it already being used in France for my car hire and throughout the day. He told me this whilst smirking. I am autistic, and I double check everything to ensure I understand. The email I received the day before said payment would be taken that day at 11am and an email would be sent if there were any issues with payment. I checked my email all day to ensure there were no issues and the last time I checked was around 9pm when I drove the final part of our 4 hour journey to get to the hotel.
The payment attempt was taken at 9.30pm less than half an hour before our arrival. I have never had a reference of that and to my knowledge is not a valid universal decline code.
I was told that I could rebook again, but it was more expensive. The man at reception denied this and was again rude. I was exhausted and close to tears and being put on the spot, I initially couldn’t find the email with the original price and just wanted myself and my children in our room so paid.
The room was old, tired, and the bunk bed creaked so badly my teenage son slept in our bed two out of the three nights.
Our air con didn’t work, but we could hear next doors clearly all night.
The next morning the maid knocked and asked to clean, I asked if she could come back later but I think she didn’t understand, she didn’t come back that day or the next. On the third day of our trip I requested the room was cleaned. One bed was made and the bathroom bin was emptied.
The bunkbed wasn’t made, no new sheets were ever given and the damp towels and toilet roll weren’t replaced. I had to go down to reception that night to ask for more towels and toilets roll from another unfriendly receptionist. Despite this I thanked her.
Outside of the room, the corridor smelled of smoke and the lift and communal areas were tired and just grim and it was all grey or stained/broken. I have never experienced such a depressing hotel. I stay frequently with ibis for work and have stayed in many ibis budgets and they have been great. This was awful. Given how little I was listened to the two times I spoke to reception staff, I felt it was pointless to address any further issues whilst there and when we left early this morning I just posted my keys in the box

We booked breakfast, but realised we wouldn't be able to have it because of time. We went back once we realised and asked to cancel and we were refused. Seemed a bit harsh and more about the money than good service.

Apart from the location, I would not recommend this hotel. The rooms are terrible, the Wi-Fi wasn’t working, and I even found small house centipedes (see attached photo). Housekeeping is poor—shower gel was never refilled, and the bathrooms have seepage and aren’t cleaned properly. The air conditioner is just for show and doesn’t work. Even if you’re out of options, it's a no-go. Also, the breakfast is just average with limited options.
