I’ve been seeing some negative reviews for this place, and it feels as they’re not very accurate. This is a good hotel for the price. The building is historic and older, but very beautiful. The room was clean, towels were fresh, the bed was comfortable. Wasn’t aware that our room included a communal shower, but that was also clean. The water was hot. As two girls in our 20’s, this was a great budget hotel. We felt safe. This hotel is right in the center, and just a walk away from the beach. Parking was 17€, and a short walk as well.

A wonderful location, in the center of Étretat, a building you want to look at in detail, a pleasant interior inside.

But after that, be ready to pay a high bill for inedible food and poor service…

The pasta — overcooked. The salmon — dry, tough, and with bones.
As for the taste, there’s nothing even worth mentioning…

The staff does not react to complaints, as if it is part of the concept of a tourist place — a complete lack of any attempt to fix the situation.

I do not recommend visiting.

Very cozy hotel in a historic building. It’s just a 2-minute walk to the promenade. The FlixBus stop is about 7 minutes away.
The room is quite spacious with beautiful stained-glass windows.
— Check-in from 3:00 PM
— Very Clean
— The reception staff speak rather limited English, but they try really hard to help.
— No elevator – it’s an old building.
— Soundproofing could be better, but I blame it on the age of the building: you can clearly hear when neighbors turn on the water.
— Hot water is available, but you need to wait a bit for it to run through.
I genuinely loved everything about it. Staying in a historic mansion feels like part of the adventure. For this price, in my opinion, it’s really great value.
And another big plus of spending the night in Étretat:
— In the morning you can walk along the beach and through the town almost completely free of tourists
— You can watch the tide go out by 30–40 meters

Don’t understand why rate is so bad. It’s not high level hotel, it’s about amazing experience

Dreadful! Arrived to check in, mentioned myself and my partner were both unwell. She checked us in told us we were staying on the 3rd floor then laughed in my face when I asked if there was an elevator. She did not offer to help with our bags. I hurled them up many flights of stairs before getting to the room to find it was in the attic and unbearably hot. I went back to reception to ask if she had a room on a lower floor thinking it may be cooler but she laughed again. When I asked if there was a fan or small ac unit we could plug in and she abruptly and repeatedly said no before laughing at us again. I don’t know if the woman was psychopath if or had a a serious personality disorder but she should not have been in a service based role. Laughing at unwell guests is not just unacceptable, it’s horrendous behaviour! To ad insult to injury the room had a dirty bathroom, non natural polyester or acrylic bedding. I wanted to leave but all the hotels in the area were booked and we had completely run out of energy at this point.

Rude staff and dirty bathrooms!

I have never had a staff member laugh in my face before, this was a first. Lady on reception was incredibly rude as I told her my partner and I were unwell with the flu we were struggling with temperature. I asked if they had a plug in fan or a room which was not in the attic 3rd floor. She laughed at me.
She laughed when she law I had two large bags and laughed again as she told me there was no elevator and offers only to help me across the road not up the 3 story’s of stairs. I was so outraged I wanted to leave but being ill my partner insisted we staid as we had nowhere else to go and very little energie.
Aside from the service issue the room was cramped, the bedding was all non natural fibres, acrylic or polyester and the toilet was dirty and stained. The building is a reproduction of a much earlier one, which is fine but they have hung a HUGE flat screen TV outside which is very insensitive to the design of the building. Not to mention that the TV plays non stop music videos all day and into the night where they treat you to techno and dance music. Not the historical vibe we were hoping for. Would not stay again.

Beautiful building. Room not so great!

My husband and I stayed there in March, and it was truly a step back in time. The building, with its charming half-timbered architecture, feels like a living piece of history. Every corner of the hotel exudes character and takes you on a journey to the past. The room was warm, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I must also mention the receptionist, who was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and despite the language barrier, he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. His warm attitude really made a difference in our stay.

I noticed that the hotel has a low rating here, which I think does not reflect the true experience. Based on my stay, I would definitely rate it much higher, as the location, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. I highly recommend this charming hotel to anyone visiting the area!

A special mention goes to the receptionist, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Despite the language barrier, he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. His warm attitude really made a positive difference to our stay.

I'll definitely come back again!
