Hotel Hofreit am Bierkeller in Kehl

Hotel breakfast leaves much to be desired frankly. Such a meagre spread with barely anything and they take pretty long to top up the items too. There’s no kettle/ water available and the heater is really weak. Service is soso, the reception has really short opening hours.

A horrible hotel with lots of spiders in the room, I spent one night there because there was no other option. I do not recommend it to anyone.

When we drove into the courtyard we were greeted in a very rude manner - by the (non-German) boss or manager, who had neither greeted us nor introduced herself beforehand, but gruffly explained the parking situation loudly, which was of course unknown to us, and where we wanted to find our bearings in order to check in.

The room was very small, with no curtains or carpet, shower mat with yellow stains, shower rail holder coming out of the wall towards us. 2 towel rails for 4 towels, no hooks - toilet paper roll without a holder on the floor. Low mini fridge on the floor that could only be opened by bending down, twin room with 1 chair at the table!

Even on the last morning of breakfast, the boss was still nowhere to be seen: no invoice or receipt for the bill paid by credit card had been prepared - the unfriendly waitress, who spoke poor German, had to ask by phone: she was told that I should give an email address, which was actually already known from the booking; I left a business card with a handwritten note (receipt required for the tax office as it was a business trip). 2 days later, today, I still haven't received a receipt by email! I will never again enter this house where the front door is always open, even at night, but the guest was not given a house key.

In my room there is no toilet, only a shower, it is not what I am reserved for.
