PROS: Lovely, charming place. It has a sort of rustic cabin charm with wooden walls and furniture, flowers and decorations.
We stayed there twice, and twice we requested apartment A1 (we recommend this, if available), which includes a bedroom with a double bed, a living room, a bathroom, a kitchenette, a dining table and a balcony overlooking the yard. It's a very nice apartment for a fair price, and everything was clean. If you're not up for cooking - they serve good food there for breakfast and dinner. The young lady that works there (I think her name is Anna Lena?) is very nice and helpful.
There's enough parking, and Lenzkirch is a very good place for hiking in the black forest (we recommend that you rent a car).
CONS: the wifi is pretty bad. However, while this was pretty inconvenient the first time around, but by our second visit we knew this in advance and decided that it's not the end of the world not to be on Facebook for a couple of days while we vacation in the black forest. We brought some books and a board game and that totally filled our evenings.
Sometimes the front door is closed (like when we arrived) and we weren't really sure what to do in that situation, since if we're tourists, we can't necessarily call the owner and ask (no connection). these times should be made clearer in the website or upon reservation. If you like sleeping in - be aware that there is a church right next door, with a bell ringing quite loudly every 15 minutes starting at 7 AM. We didn't much mind this since we wanted to get up early as it is, and actually found this helpful at times. All in all - we enjoyed our stay very much.

I came to Kappel by bus and saw the sign for the inn/hotel open.
When I asked the boss personally whether I could get a coffee before my tour as a non-house guest, I received a friendly answer, but of course I could.
I was also allowed to look at the beautiful dining room.
I'd love to come by for dinner on my next vacation.

I didn't get to stay at this hotel because it was booked up. But, we did come back for supper because it did smell very yummy. We got there and we were seated at the entrance of the restaurant beside a a family with a very loud toddler. The table cloth was dirty with fresh stains of food. My friend asked if it was possible to get a table in the gazebo because it has a very nice view to the valley. They said no that that was only for morning bread fast for the Guests that stay at the hotel. Then my friend asked if we could be seated at the restaurant. seen that it was not even half full, The owner said no because it was they way it was and that if you wanted to be seated at the restaurant you need to reserve ahead. Because only the hotel guests are allow there. End That my friends was my experience with the restaurant side of the place. PS: also don't believe when they said that they only use natural ingredients in their food. I am MSG intolerant and they told us that they don't use it ...Guess what...they do.

One star is too many...
First of all there is no wifi in the rooms.
There is no oven in the rooms only one kitchen for the whole floor but the cheap housekeeper locked it so we couldn't eat dinner.
She wouldn't even let us print our flight tickets.

Booked one night at this hotel on the internet by mistake after check-in time was already over. when i got there 30 minutes later, it was closed and dark, and knocking repeatedly on the door did not help. no one answered. So i had to find another hotel open at this hour (not an easy job at 21:00 in the black forest). When i woke up the next day i found out that the hotel charged me 136 euros for not showing up, even though i was there and the door of the hotel was locked. So i went there to try and talk to the owner of the hotel, but see just yelled at me, and told me that if i would not get out of her property, her husband would throw me out.
I would definitely stay the hell away from this place.
