Gronauer Tannenhof in Bergisch Gladbach

I was really impressed by this property and the city it's in, Bergish Gladbach. First, the hotel is owned and managed by the son of the original owner. It is a well cared for establishment, which sits on the west side of Bergish Gladbach on the edge of a forest that surrounds the city. This area of Germany is so impressive for care they take of their public parks. It really is a beautiful location.

My room was clean and nice with the latest of comforts. I was specially impressed by the in-room refreshments in the refrigerator. It was stocked with beverages of all kinds - alcoholic and non alcoholic. All were reasonably priced. Their restaurant seemed like a very good place to eat. While I didn't get to have dinner there, the breakfast fare is excellent. I got to meet and talk with the owner manager and his wife, both of whom I thought were very nice. If you stay here, you must take the 25 minute walk into Bergish Gladbach and experience the local restaurants and culture. Though I don't speak German, the restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodating. Should I find myself in Cologne again, I will definitely try to book a room here again.

Great welcome, easy and safe parking. Lovely room and a great breakfast included. Very near to towns either way out of the hotel and great for biking too. On the advice of reception, we got to the S Bahn in 5 minutes in our bikes and then got a train to Cologne which is 20 minutes away. Lovely meal there then came back. The trains run til very late. An excellent visit.

Very old school, but neat and clean also very friendly staff. Excellent food at reasonable prices in the Restaurant.

Friendly place with nice rooms, services and breakfast. You feel that a lot has been invested to make it comfortable and modern while keeping the rustic charme. One thing though: it's close to a somewhat busy road.
