Sunnys Hotel & Residence in Mainz

I don't have enough words to describe my disappointment with this 'hotel'. I advise you to stay far away from it—I wouldn't stay there even if they paid me! It felt like arriving in a third-world country.

It's hard to believe that in Germany, such overnight accommodations are legal. They clearly need special services to check for quality, cleanliness, and proper permits.

My family had to find a hotel quickly for one night due to a plane delay. Based on the description, price, and reviews (over 7 points on Booking, at the time), so it seemed convincing and we decided to go and stay there for the night.

Firstly, getting there by public transport is a bad idea. The nearest stop is quite far, and you have to walk along a field to reach the 'hotel'. This place itself is next to a gas station and car wash, surrounded by an industrial area. As soon as we approached, it was clear that everything was bad—this place looked more like a low-quality stopover for truckers.

There is practically no lighting around the 'hotel', we were met on the doorstep by tourists from Berlin who were equally shocked by the place.

In the hallway, you're greeted by dirty surfaces, a sofa with holes and stains, and dying plants in pots. A young employee gave us the keys.

The room had a terrible cigarette smell and the stench of a dirty body, with black hair everywhere, dust, dirt, and holes in the walls. Slats were falling, the floor was littered with garbage, and there were handprints and greasy stains on the windows. The beds were the cheapest, creaky kind, and the pillows were stuffed with synthetic material, bunched into one big lump.

This place is not for neat or squeamish people! The noise from the car wash and cars passing just a few meters from the windows makes this point the worst place.

I can't believe people have recently left good reviews here! This is the worst place I've ever stayed.

The freeze was broken.No drinking glasses in the room.the bed was not that as in the photo.The room was disappointing

Nice beds, that’s where the positives end. If you look further than first glance you’ll see that the rooms are absolutely filthy. Clogged and moldy drains, dustnests behind radiators and I think that with a blacklight you’d find even more trouble.

If you need a bed it’s fine, but when it comes to hygiene there’s some real growth to be had.

Dirty floors, mold in the bathroom, flies everywhere in the room, bedsheets smell like dust. All my family sneezed during the stay. Don't recommend it. I paid 80 euros for this room, it is not worth it at all. Terrible.
