Very nice restaurant above Saalfeld. Tasteful ambience. Beautifully arranged plates and while eating you can taste the love and skill of the kitchen. Guaranteed taste explosion on the tongue. Very warm service makes you feel good. If you want to eat well, you have to come here.

Very quiet location, friendly staff, the food was good but also nothing extraordinary. The price-performance ratio is okay. It was too traditional for my expectations. The ambience unfortunately leaves much to be desired. It all looks like from a bygone era and very old-fashioned. Restrooms were clean.

The place is pleasant and quiet, with a swimming pool nearby for cooling off in the summer heat. The hostess is serious but welcoming, and allowed me to check into my room early. I had to check out very early, and they left breakfast in the fridge for me, which was very nice.

First of all, we were there with 11 motorcyclists, and for our needs, it was OK. The hotel is an old prefabricated building that has been satisfactorily renovated. Outdated hotel. Far of the main strip. Walk Downtown takes 25-30min. Restaurant was closed at time of visit. Staff was friendly ,the owner rather reluctant most of the time

Stayed there on business for a longer period of time. The boss herself looked after the hotel herself during this time. We were welcomed in a friendly manner and our additional requests fulfilled at any time. Good quality WiFi was available in all rooms. The breakfast was right and it was paid attention to variety. A quiet hotel in the Thuringian Forest, a good base for excursions in the surrounding area (Saalfeld, Rudolstadt, Hohenwarte reservoir....) and for numerous hikes. The food in the restaurant is delicious and freshly prepared. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, even when things get hectic. The bowling alley is also worth. mentioning.

I didn't stay here but I ate at the restaurant. It's in a removed location up in the hills which adds to the rustic of the charm. The staff were friendly but didn't speak English. With Google translate and pointing at the menu we did just fine. I had the lamb which had a nice flavor but was a little tough. Overall the experience made for a nice retreat.

As is so often the case, we received a very friendly welcome. The menu card tailored for us personally. This hotel is particularly recommended because of its location, the nice staff and the highly recommended dishes.

Not to mention the relaxing, quiet location in the forest and the lovingly furnished hotel and grounds: the team is genuinely friendly, courteous and attentive. Good hygiene with heart and mind. Particularly noteworthy is the extensive breakfast buffet with delicious dishes. Make sure you plan a lot of time to enjoy. We'll definitely be back.

We reserved a table for 4 people for lunch in good time. We received a very warm and friendly service from the staff. The drinks and the food came after a short wait. We rate the quality as very good, as well as the price / performance ratio. The location of the hotel / restaurant is idyllic, in the middle of nature. Thank you to all employees.

We were here for lunch. I had the dark beer roast with dumplings and red cabbage. I liked the dumplings, the dark beer roast was too similar to a regular roast pork for my taste, but it was okay. However, the gravy was quite salty, and the red cabbage didn't impress me. It was too sweet and, presumably due to the cloves, too intense in flavor. Oh, and the portion size was a bit small for the price...

5 stars are far too few. I would give 10 stars if this were possible. We were there today after a long journey around 3:15 p.m. We got back expecting lunch. This was freshly prepared and not just warmed up. Kudos to the chef - the roast was a poem. The service staff was very friendly, nice and had great expertise. I can only recommend it to everyone to make a detour there.

The hotel is ok. Our room was spacious but the floor quite dusty. If you need a place to sleep it is fine, but don't eat there. The food is awfull.

We had a suite in the castle. The ambience was something special. We liked it very much. If you don't like something like that, you should book a room in the guesthouse. The breakfast was varied. There was enough parking space.

Lovely castle hotel with very friendly and warm service. The rooms and bathrooms are large. In the bathroom they have nice amenities: cotton balls, cotton swabs, hair dryer etc. the castle grounds have a playground for children, archery, and volleyball. I think the website does not do the place justice. Very nice and highly recommend.

I'm giving it 5 stars because it fully met my expectations. The breakfast was very good, as was the service. There's no one around during the day, but you can access the building and your room via a key safe. The whole building is a bit dated, but the rooms are modernly furnished and very quiet.

Hotel location is very good as it is in city center. View from windows good, rooms are well enough big and clean. But beds are very hard and pillows not good. Threfore sleeping quality was not well
