A quiet hotel in the Thuringian Forest, a good base for excursions in the surrounding area (Saalfeld, Rudolstadt, Hohenwarte reservoir....) and for numerous hikes. The food in the restaurant is delicious and freshly prepared. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, even when things get hectic. The bowling alley is also worth. mentioning.

I didn't stay here but I ate at the restaurant. It's in a removed location up in the hills which adds to the rustic of the charm. The staff were friendly but didn't speak English. With Google translate and pointing at the menu we did just fine. I had the lamb which had a nice flavor but was a little tough. Overall the experience made for a nice retreat.

We reserved a table for 4 people for lunch in good time. We received a very warm and friendly service from the staff. The drinks and the food came after a short wait. We were here for lunch. I had the dark beer roast with dumplings and red cabbage. I liked the dumplings, the dark beer roast was too similar to a regular roast pork for my taste, but it was okay. However, the gravy was quite salty, and the red cabbage didn't impress me. It was too sweet and, presumably due to the cloves, too intense in flavor. 5 stars are far too few. I would give 10 stars if this were possible. We were there today after a long journey around 3:15 p.m. We got back expecting lunch. This was freshly prepared and not just warmed up. Kudos to the chef - the roast was a poem. The service staff was very friendly, nice and had great expertise. I can only recommend it to everyone to make a detour there.

In the bathroom they have nice amenities: cotton balls, cotton swabs, hair dryer etc. the castle grounds have a playground for children, archery, and volleyball. We always eat at the Marienturm when we are in Rudolstadt. In my opinion, there is nothing comparable if you are looking for good food and excellent service. Very good hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. Although the furniture is fully functional, it could be invested in a new and modern one, because it reminds of the times from the previous state. Accommodation prices are roughly the same as in the city center, although the hotel is a few kilometers away from the center. Meals are big and of high quality.

A simple guesthouse on the Rennsteig trail, but it offers everything a Rennsteig hiker needs. The only slight issue was getting food at the independent pizzeria on the ground floor, even though I had emailed the owner beforehand. It worked out in the end, though.

Absolutely terrible air conditioning indoors during a very hot summer week. Excellent staff and excellent food for breakfasts boosted my rating or it would be much lower. Europe in general has tiny uncomfortable mattresses on the beds vs what we have in the USA, but I've always encountered that over the past 20 years, so I don't hold that against ibis.

I did not interact with any staff, so no rating there. The pillow was too flat, bit other than that, everything was fine.

The check-in is total anonymous. There were several guests who had not received the Code for the key Box and were totally lost. No phone number, no service at the hotel. Staff isonly present during breakfast time

It could use a little bit of room renovation, especially the bathroom, but it was a pleasant stay, it's in a great location literally just 200m from the city center. Can recommend

Very nice and cosy guest house very close to the city center. The twin room was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the owners were always ready to help.

Comfortable, cosily yet a little old fashioned decorated. The double bed had two separate mattresses though, which made cuddling quite a challenge.

We booked like 10 double-bed rooms at the Hotel Ilmenauer Hof. So the reservation and cancellation of the room numbers were smooth as well as the check-in and check-out process. The rooms were all clean and kinda cozy, same as the bathrooms. What I didn't like was the keen of hearing of the dorms, as this could be kinda annoying. The breakfast was quite basic, but good as you just pay 6€ per breakfast...

The room was clean but it was bit cold. There was not so many options in breakfast. No vegetarian or halal food. Otherwise, it was very much up to the stanard.

Slept here on our way north. Clean room, but mattresses really not the best. Breakfast was over standard compared to what you can expect in this price class. We were positively surprised. Check in was smooth and a nice and helpful receptionist. Place is acceptable for a quick stop over!

Clean, homely, and peaceful. The breakfast was great, plentiful, and diverse. Compared to the price, it was completely worth it.

Fine but lacking good service hours. The place is fine for a short stay. There is no service on Sundays or late in the evening, making it a bit odd to stay there then. They didn't bother cleaning the room as a result.

I had a good experience at Leonardo Hotel. A little far from the city centre, but perfectly connected with bus no. 1. The bed was very comfortable. I would only suggest adding some English channels/the possibility of adding English subtitles on TV for non-German speakers. Very nice hotel. no AC in the rooms so not sure what they do during summer. The surrounding area is awesome. Pets are allowed. Very clean, great breakfast.

Very unfriendly, very aloof. The hotel's decor is somewhat reminiscent of the GDR era. The beer from the vending machine could only be removed with considerable force.

The staff went above and beyond for us during our stay! The hotel is incredibly historic and charming. I highly recommend adding the breakfast to your stay. Jena is an absolute gem of a city and we would love to stay here again!

Stayed there for a week on a business trip. Didn't like the fact that the staff enters the room In your absence and messes with your personal stuff. For example if you don't put away your toiletries, they will disappear
