Hotel Aurum Family "A"

I spent 7 days here, every day a surprise awaited me, the room was full of cockroaches. During the half-board service, the food had an unclassifiable texture, for example, the grilled sausage was sour, the chicken breast was raw. The tomatoes were moldy, the soups were tasteless in the hotel restaurant.

I arrived at the hotel next door and the lady that showed me where to go looked at me in potty. I ignored the expression until I arrived in my room and saw the massage leaflet. Until then the hotel was nice, clean and welcoming. The team let me eat breakfast early. Generally the food was tasty but everything was cooked in oil and covered in herbs. The only recommendations would be to get a better chef.

Where do i begin?
-Building outside is cracked and desolate
-Next to no staff, like walking around an abandoned building so don’t expect any service
-No designated parking space therefore unguarded
-Hard to locate
-Loads of street noise from nearby pub
-Reception is located in another hotel
-Generally unclean

-Door open before we even enter the room
-Unknown large white stains on the floor as you enter
-Unclean surfaces and floors
-TV from circa 1950, more box than screen
-No lock available for bathroom door
-Broken showerhead, upon realisation this was reported to reception and we received a new shower head only to find out that it was broken as well
-Tap is heavily wobbling out of position
-Handle for bathroom heavily wobbling out of position
-Bed-lights broken out of position, they also heat up the room
-No air conditioning, boiling hot room
-Room was sold for 3 persons however only 2 beds were available with one person having to sleep on the sofa
-Below the bedsheet there is a layer of sand like substance
-The blankets are made from what can only be described as a metal sheet. Great for sleeping on 30C weather!
-One pillow felt like a rock and would have preferred one over it
-Mattresses are bouncy yet rock solid and make loud squeaking after minute movements
-Worst of all the only forms of decoration is a fake plant that seems to have committed suicide and a picture of a boat on paper stuck to a picture frame

Positives
-Easy access to balcony in order to commit suicide after one night here

😊 What I liked:
- They are pet friendly (although 12 euro/night for a small dog we had to pay extra.)
- We had breakfast and dinner included on night fare.
- A generous parking (you will pay 6-7 euro/night)
- Wifi was good in our room.
- Great location for the Hungarospa
- Comfortable bed. You can have a really good rest during night in those beds.

☹ What I didn't like:
- They didn't specified about parking fee when I called from home asking for details.
- They don't speak anything except Hungarian it is very hard to communicate with them.
- Towels in the bathroom are way too thin for a 4 stars hotel.
- Shower gel is a very low quality for a 4 stars hotel.
- The lack of any bathroom stand in the shower to place your toiletries.
- The lack of any room & hotel information in English (in the room)
- To turn on the AC system you need to go down at the reception and tell them your room number and the temperature you would like to set (they tell you to dial 0 from the room but the phone is not working so you have to go down).
- Dirty floors
- You can't pay with credit card in the restaurant
- Coffee machine at breakfast offers an instant coffee not ground coffee. If you like a good espresso coffee you need to get it from the bar for about 1.26 euro.

If you don't have kids with you maybe Aurum Family is not a good idea for your staying as this hotel is full of families with kids.

In my opinion it is not a 4 stars hotel ... maybe 3 stars.

I don't recommend this hotel!
