Due to circumstances we made a last minute reservation and arrived at 22h. We were very warmly welcomed and even got the opportunity to upgrade our room to one with a private bathroom, free of charge. The common kitchen is cosy and well equiped. The location and the surroundings are beautiful, the breakfast is great (I definitely recommend the scones), and the staff was very kind! Only thing that was missing was a piece of fruit for breakfast, but overall we had an amazing stay!

We had the pleasure to stay in the old house which is from 1906 and has been used as a hostel for over 50 years now. The house is kept in it's old condition with some necessary modernizations. So the ambience in there is quite cozy and calm even if the weather may be stormy and rainy. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the nereby sheep are adorable. We really loved it here and hope to come back some time soon.

We found Berunes by chance and what a lovely place to stop over in the campervan. The facilities were first class and the host was helpful, considerate and sensible. We stopped during the storm and it rained the whole time unfortunately so missed out on the local walks and had to do with sitting in the bar drinking the locally brewed brown ale - but it was red ale mmmm

SUCH a lovely place. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the tiny cabin, so cozy and a perfect fit for our group.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Our wooden chalet was small and cozy, well equipped and had a fridge and 2 armchairs. However what made our stay really good was the dining room. The 4 course evening meal was superb, with local produce and home cooking. The food and drink were very good value for Iceland, the best value meal we have had all week. The breakfast was also really excellent. The family running the place made us very welcome. Would highly recommend this for a relaxed stay.

100/10 stay. One of our absolute favorite and most memorable places during our Iceland trip. The accommodation was so homey and well designed and spacious. Perfect for our family and baby. The restaurant was delicious and adorable as well as the breakfast. The owners were kind and thoughtful and we learned so much about the history of the lodge. The surrounding area was stunning and I would recommend everyone to stay here during their stay along the ring road!!

We spent a night in this old and quiet farmhouse . The room was simple with only a bed and no closet. The common bathroom was simple too with limited hot water in the shower. The breakfast was OK (typical icelandic breakfast). It is a nice location for trekkers and on the way to the West.

This is basically a hostel, I would not stay here unless you are really craving a nostalgic experience. The "cottage" we rented was a disgusting dorm room with 4 little beds in it and a shower head sticking out of the wall in the bathroom. It was like an abandoned summer camp, and right outside of our window was a cemetery...sound a bit like Friday the 13th? No internet in the rooms and no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I'm sorry to disagree with so many other travelers, but based on my experience staying in literally hundreds of hotels/hostels/guesthouses this one is in the bottom 5%. Truly a dump.

We arrived at Braz Hostel next door to Berunes a couple of days ago. After half an hours walk we arrived at Berunes and discovered this small but friendly restaurant. I chose the Wolffish with a potato puree and some more additional tastemakers. My friend had the lamb with cauliflower puree and grilled vegetables. Amazingly great food and amazingly served. My desert was good too, some cakes with amazing ice cream amazingly decorated and presented. An amazing good choice.

Berunes is not only a charming place to visit for locals and visitors alike, but provides one of the best and most creative dining spaces in the fjords. Every plate was aesthetically gorgeous, the food thoughtfully balanced and exciting to eat. The bread was amazing, staff attentive, knowledgeable and polite- even when faced with difficult customers, they kept their composure and professionalism! Berunes hosts a passionate creative chef who took the time during service to greet diners and share his love for his craft. A real gem in east Iceland and an absolute treat for us.
