Berunes HI Hostel

We camped at this Hostel and saw the Northern Lights - great view to the North/NW from here. The facilities for camping were a bit dated but still okay. The host was very friendly and they offer drinks for purchase in the dining area until 10:00pm.

Amazing location with a beautiful view from every window. Beds are comfortable and the hostel is clean. The man at the front desk was extremely kind despite my late arrival. The breakfast is essential but worthy.

I didn't even think this place is real. It looks so beautiful, surrounded by the mountains and ocean. The view is stunning. The host is a very kind and patient man. The history of the place is incredible. Basically everything seems so peaceful and gorgeous.

This was hands down the best hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff are so kind, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The pop up restaurant was a very welcome surprise and the food was exceptional. The rooms are very clean and cozy, and all at a reasonable price. I also appreciated the emphasis on sustainability! You can tell this place is run from the heart, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling along the East fjords.

Great for camping! We stayed on the campsite for 1800 ISK each. It had all the amenities we needed including two small buildings with toilets and showers, another one for cooking/eating indoors, and a second dish washing area outside. The staff were super friendly, and we even had the campsite to ourselves. They also offer a breakfast buffet from 8-10am for 1800 ISK each with really good freshly baked bread.

Tips for campers - you'll need your own utensils as there is only a cutting board (as seen in photo). The shower in building #4 is the nicest of the two.

Great cabin with everything we needed for our stay. We loved the view of the ocean and the mountains. We hiked up the mountain behind our cabin for and amazing view of the area!

We couldn’t stay here because of our itinerary but we stopped for a pick me up and it was so hard leave! The owner is so, so nice and the vibe of the place is honest, cozy and extremely wholesome. If you can, plan to stay here! They have a handmade things-to-do-around-Berunes book in the reception 🥹

Olafur is very kind. You will have a warm welcome in his guesthouse. 1 toilet and bathroom is a bit poor for the number available rooms. The dining room has a stunning view on the outside lanscape.
