This was our favorite lodging while in Iceland! The owner was responsive and welcoming. The small house was incredibly clean and well supplied with everything we needed while there for three nights. The view was STUNNING! We saw the northern lights, watched horses, and played with the farm dogs! There was a good little pizza place about five minutes away and a grocery store and other stores about ...
This is a quaint and delightful location. The facilities are basic but more than adequate. The beds are comfortable and there are lovely views of farmland and ponies from the windows. Good communal space (there were four of us and you could have had more). A good base for a stay in Iceland.
We got to experience Icelandic farm life with our girls. They have horses, sheep, and dogs around the property. The dogs are so friendly they spent time playing fetch and following around our daughters.
What a super place to stay! Our family of four found it tremendous. The cabin is set up very well in terms of storage, beds etc, but also has other touches that make self catering so much easier, like providing washing up liquid, salt etc etc. The owner was charming and knowledgeable about the area. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our first night there - but the views out across...
We stayed at this lovely guest house last week and we are really happy to say that it was a cosy place, with all the amenities that you would expect for a comfortable stay. Hosts are super responsive and very organised. Self check-in , Check-out made it very easy for us. It is in a quiet location so perfect for seeing Northern lights too. We were lucky to see them 4 nights out of 5, inspire of the...
The property was cosy, clean, quiet and had exceptional views from the window.

We stayed at Ármót Guesthouse and it honestly felt like a bit of an upgrade compared to some other places we stayed at. The rooms were enormous - loads of space, really comfortable and just nice to relax in after a long day out.
The house is a little creaky, but in a cosy, charming way. It actually gives the place character and makes it feel like it has a soul rather than being just another guesthouse...
Great place to stay Need some one at the timer of people checking in. Otherwise great property
We recently stayed at this apartment and had a very pleasant experience. The unit was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with modern furnishings and a comfortable layout. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it convenient for longer stays, and the living area felt bright and welcoming. The location was excellent, close to Hella with shops, restaurants, and public transport, yet still quiet and...
We stayed in the private apartment for three nights. The location is great for exploring the South Coast. We could have easily stayed here longer as there is so much to see and do within an hour or so of drive.
The apartment was roomy and well equipped. We had a full kitchen with a little dishwasher. We had beautiful views of the horse farm, and mountains in the distance. There was also a river...
Lovely comfortable stay on an Equestrian Centre.
Lovely stay on an equestrian centre. The guesthouse was clean and comfortable with an enormous upstairs sitting room with tea and coffee available.
Breakfast was adequate but convenient.
It was lovely to see the Icelandic horses outside the window and to be able to visit the stables to meet them up close.
Our cottages were good. Having a kitchen & dining area made it more spacious and we were able to make our own hot breakfast. It’s on a nice farm. Would recommend this property.

A Restaurant in Hvolsvöllur that offers a cozy and artistic atmosphere, blending local craftsmanship with casual Icelandic dining. The café is filled with handmade pottery and art pieces, giving it a warm, creative charm that sets it apart from typical roadside stops. It’s a comfortable place to relax, especially after exploring the nearby waterfalls or the Lava Centre.
The food, however, is a bit...
It feels cozy inside, the workers are polite and the fish and chips are absolutely delicious. These are easily the best for taste and portions around Iceland, and we are finishing up the our trip around the country (including the west fjords) soon. We also ordered hot drinks and those were tasty of course too!
Cozy and comfy road dinner where you can try a selection of local foods as well as dishes inspired by other cuisines (like poke bowls). The garlic bread steals the show - it's simply marvelous! The lamb stew and fish gratin hold their ground and the staff is always there the help if you cannot decide. Ah, the local lager is also order worthy.
I am not exaggerating when I say this place has the best fish and chips I have ever consumed.
We were exhausted, hungry, and worried we wouldn't find dinner before everything closed in Reykjavik. We stopped at Eldstó on a whim, and it ended up being one of the best meals of our entire trip.
We both ordered the Fish and Chips (pro-tip: it's not on the menu, you have to ask for it!), and we were floored...
This was a recommended spot to eat in the town. We were able to walk here from our accommodations.
The menu had a good selection. We ended up getting the burgers and fries. They were both very good. The fries were seasoned and very good. The food came out hot and presentation was good. It was a quiet restaurant and they had an art show room off the back.
There was plenty of parking. The restaurant...
Great place for quick lunch or diner. We came here on our way to Seljalandsfoss, and we had to come back again on our way back to Reykjavik. Its soooooo good! Especially the lamb soup, its a must try. The fosh and chips were great too, fish was very fresh.

The nicest hosts I've ever met! Great place to stay! Clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location. I would definitely stay here again.
This was our most eventful stay. The staff was lovely, though reasonably chaotic at times. The parking area is small. It was raining when we were there and a few people got stuck. Love the aesthetic of the hotel. I wish there were more protein options for breakfast, but what was available was still good.
Great stay
Staff was very accommodating. Room was great. Small refrigerator was a bonus.
Breakfast was delicious.
The room was spacious, private, clean and the breakfast good. The host went out of his way to have our breakfast ready earlier than the normal time so that we could be to our tour in time. Highly recommend!
The setting next to the river was amazing. The room was clean and safe and the hosts were amazing as was the breakfast. Highly recommend.
Pleasant and clean
Cabins were quaint and very clean. Environmentally conscious and pleasant surroundings. Walls were a bit thin and easy to hear other guests in adjacent room. Breakfast just okay and very limited. Good for price.

Great place to stay for a small group. Not the best location, but not a big deal for the price.
Rooms were clean and well kept. Kitchen was also clean.
McDonald’s burger no longer there though!
We came to view Icelands last McDonald’s sold they have on display and it was closed. We were told by a stranger that this place only opens for large groups and you have to call ahead. Snotra house? Snotopen house!
Honestly the best hostel I have ever stayed anywhere in the world. Did not have opportunity to try other hostels in Iceland, but there is no way to go wrong with this one. Very short drive from the main 1 road. Peaceful and calm location. Price is very for Iceland. The interior- bravo, it is warm, cosy, I liked he music and tidiness. Really one of the best places you could find in Iceland to stay for...
The most friendly staff I've seen in an Icelandic hostel :) This hostel has nice retro ("old") interior put in a modern way. You can choose a room for yourself or you can stay with other guests in a shared room (which is a bit cheaper). The prices are all affordable. Shared kitchen is big and has many new appliances (and each table has a toaster machine for yourself, which is handy while making breakfast...
Amazing hostel. The rooms are nice and clean, the owners are very friendly, there's plenty of showers and toilets so you'll never have to wait too long.
The kitchen is above average too, it has induction plates, which is a first on my Iceland round-trip. You even get a selection of free sauces there.
Check in time is until 22:00 and check out at 10:00.
Easily the best hostel I've ever stay at. The host were kind enough to lent us the Europe power adaptor. Lovely kitchen, beautiful lounge where there's board games, music and comfy seats. Very clean toilet. Worth all our money staying here 👍

My wife and I stayed at West Ranga Lodge for a fishing trip, and we really enjoyed it. The location is perfect - right by the river and very peaceful. The lodge has a cosy feel and a lot of charm, and everything we needed was available. There was even a dedicated drying room for waders, which was super handy after a day on the water. It’s also possible to buy fishing equipment right at the lodge,...
Whilst the refurbished lounge, sitting and dining areas are very good the accommodation is nothing short of child dormitory standard, even the WC is child height, only one usable socket in the room and that is under a table, no USB sockets in the room, the two very narrow beds in the room had two bedside cabinets between them, it was impossible to turn over in bed without your head hitting either the...
Had a lovely stay for two nights with my family of four. Hótel and room are spotless and beautifully decorated with a great view of the river in the back. Check in was very easy and Maria was very friendly. Beds are comfy and shower was good too. Breakfast buffet was ok, would have loved more options and we were informed upon check in that there was no dinner served which we were not aware of - ...
the hotel is decorated beautifully and newly done. the beds were very comfortable and you get a nice view of the river depending on what side you’re on, the other side is an unfortunate view of the parking lot. the soundproofing was pretty good here we didn’t hear anything overnight even tho the fishermen got up very early. we had no idea this place does not offer dinner, it wasn’t written anywhere...
beautiful lodge, great food and friendly people 🤠
Best hotel i stayed at in Iceland! Great staff and super yummie breakfast. Me and my mum spent two nights at river hotel, i definitely can recommend to spend more time there then just sleeping time. Perfect location to start a lil walk from, spending time in the spa area (hot tub and sauna) or just reading a book while watching the fisherman standing in the river.
