Hotels in Hella

Very cozy nordic style hotel. This actually big hotel with sauna and hot tub. Breakfast also great.

We had a great stay at Stracta - the chalet style rooms were not a surprise as we looked through all photos on booking before choosing to stay. The only negative I can say is that the shower was really tight, the two doors don’t really work well. Other than that we had a great stay, the pull out bed for our daughter was far more comfortable than the one in others we’d stayed in. The staff were lovely...

Highly recommend! We stayed in one of the rooms with the private hot tubs. The room was very spacious and well laid out. The rooms were very clean and so was the hotel. The only thing was the shower is the room wasn’t working at its best, only the one showerhead was working. The food was good. In the area there isn’t a lot so you have to drive. Overall though the hotel was very peaceful and relaxing...

Spent 2 nights in Stracta hotel during summer. We were given a room in the outdoor without shelter, so it was quite a hassle when it rained. Otherwise the room was pretty standard size, squeezy for 3 people, would be fine for 2. Didn't manage to try the hot tub as it was full with patrons. Do not forget the complimentary drinks, Cheers!

I recently stayed at the Stracta Hotel in Hella Iceland with family, and wanted to post a quick review here. I stayed in one of their superior designated rooms with a double bed. The room was spacious and clean with a modern updated bathroom. The room also had a good sized open closet for my clothes and included some extra pillows and blankets. The price of the room included a breakfast in the morning...

Nice and clean Great location Happy breakfast But a but small for 3 people room

This was a nice place to stay for the night. It seemed like the hotel may have had some issues before our arrival, as the changing rooms were broken and the hot tubs couldn’t be used due to the snowfall. Which was disappointing. The bedroom itself was clean and provided a comfortable night’s sleep, and there is parking available on site, which was convenient. One thing to note is that the room didn...

We stay here for two nights, was the best hotel of our entire trip. I see the reviews from the Asian guide, Bart, please believe me that what he wrote isn’t reflect of what happened, we was the couple close to his room, and I didn’t confirm that the room was cold, for us was perfect! And sorry but they run to you because you were screaming like crazy and they run to listen to you and try to solve your...

Simple cottage with hot spring at the reception area. Kitchen was well equipped and managed to cook some food. However, heater in the room was not too strong. We were quite cold as the temperature dipped the night we were there. We managed to catch the aurora right from our room windows! That was only because the location was great and no light pollution around.

We saw the aurora borealis when we arrived. Make sure to arrive at this hotel early, as the front desk isn't open 24 hours. After watching the aurora for a while, we quickly checked in because the staff were about to leave. Before they leave, check if the heating is warm enough; if not, adjust the temperature while they're still there.

Wonderful place to stay! We were here for just one night and we all wish we had booked a longer stay! The cabins are so cute and have a terrific view! The staff was terrific and meals were great. They were happy to make special food items for our 5 year old. We are very much hoping to be back here again and stay longer to really take advantage of all Hestheimar has to offer!!

The people working for the place were kind and friendly. However the owner was insane. They keep reiceving the customers even though there was serious problem in the room 4, 5 and 6 where the floor heating was not working at all. You have to pay extra money to avoid the room 4, 5 and 6 otherwise just get the cold feet for the cold room.

Great. Gym and billiard room are great. Breakfast is very various.

was wonderful although we didnt get to see the northern lights

Amazing , recommended! I could see aurora even it s cloudy day!

There’s aurora wake up call service Room is modern and comfortable

Nice, modern, clean hotel with excellent cuisine amidst an amazing landscape. We had a wonderful time there. especially the staff were all so helpful and friendly, and went above and beyond to make the stay a good one, as well for our little son who had a lot of fun. thank you and chócala to Tomas :)

I can not say enough about this Hotel! The location is perfect if want to see the Northern Lights. The staff at Landhotel are amazing. Adel helped us map out all the must see places and then told us about ones only the locals know about. The food at Tindur was delicious. Erik’s recommendations were on point every time. Can’t wait to come back!

Not worth it given the price and location.

We loved our stay at Hotel Ranga. Truly a small luxury hotel. Nice comfortable rooms, great serene locations. We loved the observatory for star gazing and also saw a bit of northern lights. What stands out though is their professional hospitality and the service. They are all very willing to help. Very good food. Recommended for a stay if you were traveling like us to or from the east side of Iceland

We had such a beautiful stay at Hotel Rangá. It is truly a lovely property — charming, elegant, and absolutely worthy of being called a luxury cabin experience. We enjoyed every moment there. The reception team was wonderful, especially the young lady who kindly assisted us with all of our questions. She was incredibly helpful and welcoming, which made our stay even more special. The hotel is kept...

We didn’t stayed in the hotel, but we stopped to have lunch, the food was amazing, deer carpaccio and the fish of the day (cod) was really tasty. Also the ice cream The staff was very kind and ready to help. And the place has great views, the bear in the main entrance was spectacular.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and had a lovely experience. The first night we had the pleasure of attending the star gazing in the observatory with an absolutely wonderful astronomer. He was so knowledgeable, and seeing the stars that clearly was beautiful. We did see some of the northern lights that night as well, and the hotel provided hot chocolate for everyone staying up late to see...

Nice hotel but for a night I would stay in other hotels that where better and less expensive

This hotel has a wonderful location nearby Hella. It is clean and all rooms have a private entrance. It is a real shame though that the food isn’t good at all. It is far from fresh and way too overpriced. Same goes for breakfast. Really disappointing.

very sweet place. we were a family of 9 and stayed in 2 large cabins. breakfast was wonderful. dinner was also great. we saw the northern lights just as in the photos!

We booked to vist iceland with our two daughters and to celebrate our daughter turning 16. It was definitely a birthday to remember. The hotels location ment that we were able to enjoy the spectacular aurora show on her birthday, and was also in the perfect location for us to travel to see many of the amazing sites iceland has to offer. The staff at the hotel are friendly and informative, and the food...

Clean room. Nice breakfast. Pretty location. Staff was nice. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night a couple of times and staff was no where to be seen for what felt like a long time. It was faulty not a fire. It was a bit frustrating at 3am. Nothing was mentioned the next morning. I would think a discount would have been given or an apology but nothing.

Great home cooked meal. Owners kids are great running the front of the house!

Beautiful views! We went in hopes to experience the aurora borealis (we had two nights previous luckily) even in their absence this place lacked no picturest moments. Horses in the field 10m away, the moon rising, and a peaceful time spent in the hot tub and sauna were beyond my hopes.. safe and friendly

Visited Iceland last week. Booked a stay at Hotel Vos. Love the atmosphere at the hotel. Lovely and lively staff, warms & fills up our heart despite the cold weather. Staff are helpful & friendly. Room is decent size with everything you could ask for. None of the hotel supplies lotion but this do. (Not sure if they will continue have the supply but at least during my stay there's 🤭). Two big tub...

Fantastic Stay! Highly Recommend! We had an absolutely fantastic time during our trip with friends! The service was the biggest highlight: the staff was super courteous and truly made us feel welcome. The whole place was immaculately clean. We loved starting our mornings with the delicious and abundant breakfast, which offered something for everyone. And the outdoor jacuzzi was spectacular—the perfect...

Very spacious and comfortable rooms, as are the bathrooms. Only the soundproofing could be better. I would like to highlight the cleanliness of the space and the included breakfast (although it doesn't have much variety, it's a nice plus in Iceland that it's included). Since we arrived late and the weather outside was quite bad, we didn't have the opportunity to see/try the jacuzzi. In terms of...

These are pretty nice rooms, and the private bathrooms were a welcome surprise. The rooms were frigid! The interior walls were thin from room to room to the extent it is easy to hear your neighbor cough. It is possible that it is not the most well insulated. Woke up late, the breakfast was closed.

We stayed here for two nights with our older teenage children (over 2 rooms). The rooms were very clean, had a great shower room and very comfortable beds. We loved the hot tub and the breakfast was very good too. There was also a communal lounge with complementary hot drinks. It was a great place to base ourselves for exploring the area. Good value for money.

We arrived late and were still able to pick up room keys with no bother. Nice to speak to someone and get advice about local area in the morning. Breakfast was great, home made bread was delicious.

Overall great stay and cozy room for us… the receptionist greeted us with friendly smile… the hotel has a restaurant next to it and we had our dinner there since there’s no kitchenette for us to prepare our own dinner…

The room was enough big for 2 of us. The hotel location just beside the road side and easy to get there. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very good. Will comeback again next time .

Loved it!!! Stayed at Hella Kanslarinn during our Ring Road trip and it was a great stopover spot. The view from the property is okay during the day; we could spot the northern lights from our window at night. it is really peaceful depsite being placed in the main road of Hella whcih makes it perfect to get a good night’s rest between drives. Room is extremely clean and well organized. The room incl...

The staff were very friendly. The hotel was a bit dated but it was comfortable and clean. In addition, renovations are underway. Bonus points for the heated bathroom floors. The breakfast was the stand out with eggs and bacon in addition to lunch meats. Worth the price for the value.

At first it was skeptical because the property is under construction. It seems they are adding a few rooms and possibly an elevator. The room was spacious and comfortable. It’s in the middle of a small town with a craft store a short walk away. There is a river walk and a cafe also within walking distance. The breakfast was good and would have probably cost $50 (for two people )if you had to pay for...

We loved this place. The rooms were clean, large, and had everything you need for a basic hotel. The breakfast was really nice. Honourable mentions for the fried eggs and bacon. We would highly recommend this property.

This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. The common area was clean, with unlimited self-service coffee and hot water. It would be absolutely stunning if the sky were clear...

Staying at Aurora Igloo was one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland. Even in winter, the igloo was cozy and warm, with three heaters inside. I booked the igloo with private bathroom, which was spacious and well-equipped. Check-in was easy and the hosts responsive when contacted. I would definitely recommend stopping for a night here on your south coast adventure!

I spent one night here in January, luckily, we managed to catch the northern lights as the location is great to see the auroras. the igloos are very clean cosy and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were very clean too. thoroughly enjoyed my night there, would deffo go back x

It was a bit pricey, but it was the most special accommodation of my life.

I don't know if we got lucky or not, but watching the northern lights dance all over the sky while sitting inside our warm clear igloo was incredible. Comfortable beds, easy check in. No complaints. Also id say if you can spend the extra money, they private shower igloo is well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay the extra its still plenty worth going to. Truly incredible experience.

This place is amazing! We spent one night in an igloo with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean and nice, it was so great to have a coffee and tea after a freezing day. The bed heater was a great feature of the room, it was nice and cozy to see the northern lights from bed. Like a fairy tale :) Thank you!

The nicest hosts I've ever met! Great place to stay! Clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location. I would definitely stay here again.

This was our most eventful stay. The staff was lovely, though reasonably chaotic at times. The parking area is small. It was raining when we were there and a few people got stuck. Love the aesthetic of the hotel. I wish there were more protein options for breakfast, but what was available was still good.

Great stay Staff was very accommodating. Room was great. Small refrigerator was a bonus. Breakfast was delicious.

The room was spacious, private, clean and the breakfast good. The host went out of his way to have our breakfast ready earlier than the normal time so that we could be to our tour in time. Highly recommend!

The setting next to the river was amazing. The room was clean and safe and the hosts were amazing as was the breakfast. Highly recommend.

Pleasant and clean Cabins were quaint and very clean. Environmentally conscious and pleasant surroundings. Walls were a bit thin and easy to hear other guests in adjacent room. Breakfast just okay and very limited. Good for price.

This was our favorite lodging while in Iceland! The owner was responsive and welcoming. The small house was incredibly clean and well supplied with everything we needed while there for three nights. The view was STUNNING! We saw the northern lights, watched horses, and played with the farm dogs! There was a good little pizza place about five minutes away and a grocery store and other stores about ...

This is a quaint and delightful location. The facilities are basic but more than adequate. The beds are comfortable and there are lovely views of farmland and ponies from the windows. Good communal space (there were four of us and you could have had more). A good base for a stay in Iceland.

We got to experience Icelandic farm life with our girls. They have horses, sheep, and dogs around the property. The dogs are so friendly they spent time playing fetch and following around our daughters.

What a super place to stay! Our family of four found it tremendous. The cabin is set up very well in terms of storage, beds etc, but also has other touches that make self catering so much easier, like providing washing up liquid, salt etc etc. The owner was charming and knowledgeable about the area. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on our first night there - but the views out across...

We stayed at this lovely guest house last week and we are really happy to say that it was a cosy place, with all the amenities that you would expect for a comfortable stay. Hosts are super responsive and very organised. Self check-in , Check-out made it very easy for us. It is in a quiet location so perfect for seeing Northern lights too. We were lucky to see them 4 nights out of 5, inspire of the...

The property was cosy, clean, quiet and had exceptional views from the window.

Gorgeous home and beautiful location. Woke up to the sunrise and a waterfall outside my window. Fell asleep to auroras. Good place to stay to get to Landmannalaugar the next day. Would stay again

We loved the location. It was secluded, relaxing and perfect for our stay

We had a lovely overnight stay here mainly to see the northern lights. When we arrived late that night, it made us feel at home already although it’s not as spacious cottage , its clean and it got comfy beds. No AC and heater seems automatic. The kitchenette is nice to have to cook for breakfast. Customer service staff doesn’t answer phone call or text. Location easy to drive and find. That night the...

Pros: Property was in a quiet, beautiful area with easy car access. Cons: There was no in-unit fan or air cooling system. As a result people open the windows to let in cool air. We did not open the windows when we stayed due to the number of bugs outside, so it was incredibly warm and difficult to sleep comfortably. Despite our best efforts, there were 4-5 spiders in the sleeping area and several flies...

We enjoyed this property for our 2 night stay. The rental unit looks brand new and is furnished very well. It was probably the largest and nicest rental units we stayed in for our entire two week trip. It was nice to have the space! The only downside to this property is that it was out in the country, away from everything. So grab what you need before retiring for the evening. We were slightly disappointed...

A One-of-a-Kind Stay at Afternoon Cottages! Our stay at Afternoon Cottages in Iceland was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were blown away by how cozy and charming the cottage was. It had almost a full kitchen, super comfy beds, a nice bathroom with plenty of hot water — everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was snowing during our visit...
