Very cozy nordic style hotel. This actually big hotel with sauna and hot tub. Breakfast also great.

We had a great stay at Stracta - the chalet style rooms were not a surprise as we looked through all photos on booking before choosing to stay. The only negative I can say is that the shower was really tight, the two doors don’t really work well. Other than that we had a great stay, the pull out bed for our daughter was far more comfortable than the one in others we’d stayed in. The staff were lovely...

Highly recommend! We stayed in one of the rooms with the private hot tubs. The room was very spacious and well laid out. The rooms were very clean and so was the hotel. The only thing was the shower is the room wasn’t working at its best, only the one showerhead was working. The food was good. In the area there isn’t a lot so you have to drive. Spent 2 nights in Stracta hotel during summer. We were given a room in the outdoor without shelter, so it was quite a hassle when it rained. Otherwise the room was pretty standard size, squeezy for 3 people, would be fine for 2. Didn't manage to try the hot tub as it was full with patrons. Do not forget the complimentary drinks, Cheers!

I recently stayed at the Stracta Hotel in Hella Iceland with family, and wanted to post a quick review here. I stayed in one of their superior designated rooms with a double bed. I can not say enough about this Hotel! The location is perfect if want to see the Northern Lights. The staff at Landhotel are amazing. Adel helped us map out all the must see places and then told us about ones only the locals know about. The food at Tindur was delicious. Erik’s recommendations were on point every time. Can’t wait to come back!

We loved our stay at Hotel Ranga. Truly a small luxury hotel. Nice comfortable rooms, great serene locations. We loved the observatory for star gazing and also saw a bit of northern lights. What stands out though is their professional hospitality and the service. They are all very willing to help. Very good food. Recommended for a stay if you were traveling like us to or from the east side of Iceland

We didn’t stayed in the hotel, but we stopped to have lunch, the food was amazing, deer carpaccio and the fish of the day (cod) was really tasty. Also the ice cream The staff was very kind and ready to help. And the place has great views, the bear in the main entrance was spectacular.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and had a lovely experience. The first night we had the pleasure of attending the star gazing in the observatory with an absolutely wonderful astronomer. He was so knowledgeable, and seeing the stars that clearly was beautiful. Nice hotel but for a night I would stay in other hotels that where better and less expensive

This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. Staying at Aurora Igloo was one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland. Even in winter, the igloo was cozy and warm, with three heaters inside. I booked the igloo with private bathroom, which was spacious and well-equipped. Check-in was easy and the hosts responsive when contacted. I would definitely recommend stopping for a night here on your south coast adventure!

I spent one night here in January, luckily, we managed to catch the northern lights as the location is great to see the auroras. the igloos are very clean cosy and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were very clean too. thoroughly enjoyed my night there, would deffo go back x

It was a bit pricey, but it was the most special accommodation of my life.

I don't know if we got lucky or not, but watching the northern lights dance all over the sky while sitting inside our warm clear igloo was incredible. Comfortable beds, easy check in. No complaints. Also id say if you can spend the extra money, they private shower igloo is well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay the extra its still plenty worth going to. Truly incredible experience.

This place is amazing! We spent one night in an igloo with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean and nice, it was so great to have a coffee and tea after a freezing day. The bed heater was a great feature of the room, it was nice and cozy to see the northern lights from bed. Like a fairy tale :) Thank you!

This hotel has a wonderful location nearby Hella. It is clean and all rooms have a private entrance. It is a real shame though that the food isn’t good at all. It is far from fresh and way too overpriced. Same goes for breakfast. Really disappointing.

Clean room. Nice breakfast. Pretty location. Staff was nice. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night a couple of times and staff was no where to be seen for what felt like a long time. It was faulty not a fire. It was a bit frustrating at 3am. Nothing was mentioned the next morning. I would think a discount would have been given or an apology but nothing.

Beautiful views! We went in hopes to experience the aurora borealis (we had two nights previous luckily) even in their absence this place lacked no picturest moments. Horses in the field 10m away, the moon rising, and a peaceful time spent in the hot tub and sauna were beyond my hopes.. safe and friendly

Simple cottage with hot spring at the reception area. Kitchen was well equipped and managed to cook some food. However, heater in the room was not too strong. We were quite cold as the temperature dipped the night we were there. We managed to catch the aurora right from our room windows! That was only because the location was great and no light pollution around.

We saw the aurora borealis when we arrived. Make sure to arrive at this hotel early, as the front desk isn't open 24 hours. After watching the aurora for a while, we quickly checked in because the staff were about to leave. Before they leave, check if the heating is warm enough; if not, adjust the temperature while they're still there.

Wonderful place to stay! We were here for just one night and we all wish we had booked a longer stay! The cabins are so cute and have a terrific view! The staff was terrific and meals were great. They were happy to make special food items for our 5 year old. We are very much hoping to be back here again and stay longer to really take advantage of all Hestheimar has to offer!!

The people working for the place were kind and friendly. However the owner was insane. They keep reiceving the customers even though there was serious problem in the room 4, 5 and 6 where the floor heating was not working at all. You have to pay extra money to avoid the room 4, 5 and 6 otherwise just get the cold feet for the cold room.

These are pretty nice rooms, and the private bathrooms were a welcome surprise. The rooms were frigid! The interior walls were thin from room to room to the extent it is easy to hear your neighbor cough. It is possible that it is not the most well insulated. Woke up late, the breakfast was closed.

We stayed here for two nights with our older teenage children (over 2 rooms). The rooms were very clean, had a great shower room and very comfortable beds. We loved the hot tub and the breakfast was very good too. There was also a communal lounge with complementary hot drinks. It was a great place to base ourselves for exploring the area. At first it was skeptical because the property is under construction. It seems they are adding a few rooms and possibly an elevator. The room was spacious and comfortable. This was our most eventful stay. The staff was lovely, though reasonably chaotic at times. The parking area is small. It was raining when we were there and a few people got stuck. Love the aesthetic of the hotel. I wish there were more protein options for breakfast, but what was available was still good.

This is a quaint and delightful location. The facilities are basic but more than adequate. The beds are comfortable and there are lovely views of farmland and ponies from the windows. Good communal space (there were four of us and you could have had more). A good base for a stay in Iceland.

We got to experience Icelandic farm life with our girls. They have horses, sheep, and dogs around the property. The dogs are so friendly they spent time playing fetch and following around our daughters.

Pros: Property was in a quiet, beautiful area with easy car access. Cons: There was no in-unit fan or air cooling system. As a result people open the windows to let in cool air.
